News Release May 7, 2014 For Immediate Release HopeFest Returns to Help Children’s Residential Camps PINEHURST – Last year’s inaugural HopeFest event is returning for a second year to once again help children living at Cameron Boys Camp and Camp Duncan for Girls. The event takes place at the Village Arboretum in Pinehurst on May 24, 2014 and features food, family fun, and live music. “We’re excited that we can follow-up on last year’s excitement. Most importantly, we’re grateful that the community wants to come together again to make a difference in the lives of some special children,” said Baptist Children’s Homes’ Danny Hawkins. Baptist Children’s Homes’ (BCH) HopeFest is a benefit for the children living at the two Moore county camps. The residential camps offer a unique, wilderness program where community children live year-round in campsites with counselors known as “chiefs.” Camp’s social work staff and counselors provide a structured environment, as well as a licensed alternative education program, to promote the emotional healing of children while helping restore their family relationships. “The camps are so unique and so special,” Hawkins explains. “It’s amazing how the children respond to the outdoor environment and how the experience helps them overcome the hurts and challenges they face.” Last year’s festival created new awareness and made new friends for BCH’s residential wilderness program. More than 1,500 people attended the inaugural event. “We want to capture the same enthusiasm and energy from last year and multiply it for this year’s event,” said Hawkins. “Volunteers are working tirelessly to make this event happen because they believe in the camps so strongly and want to make sure HopeFest fully benefits the children living there.” HopeFest’s first-year sponsors also feel strongly about their involvement and have all returned to support the sophomore benefit. Fred Anderson Toyota of Sanford is HopeFest’s title sponsor with Relyus Direct Mail Solutions of Hope Mills, Walmart and other organizations aiding as well. A barbecue lunch will be served at HopeFest for a $7.00 donation. The day includes live music by the Taylors, the Harvesters Quartet, Awestruck, the Anchormen, Rapture Road and Green Level Praise Team. Miss North Carolina Johna Edmonds will be in attendance. A silent auction, vendors and a children’s play area with inflatables rounds out the event. Emcees for Hopefest 2014 will be Larry Chason and Don Chase from WKLM 95.7FM Radio. All proceeds from the event benefit the children at Cameron Boys Camp and Camp Duncan for Girls. The HopeFest committee is looking for sponsors, volunteers, silent auction donors, and vendors.
