2015 Poster/Calendar Contest
Theme: WATER CONSERVATION
“Conserving Water Outdoors”
Criteria:







Use 11” x 17” white paper
Leave a 1-inch white (blank) border all around drawing area
Draw with paper in the horizontal orientation (landscape – not portrait)
Use Ink, Chalk, Fabric Markers, Crayons, Felt Tip Markers, Pastels, Paper Cutouts, Poster Paint or Watercolor Paint.
Use bright colors
Only original student artwork may be used
Each Poster must include a completed Entry Form (attached to back of poster)
and General Release Form.
Winners and Prizes:

First and Second Place Winners will be chosen from each participating grade.

Selected posters and pictures of the winning artist will be used for the 2016 West
Valley Water District calendar.
Prizes for the 2014 Poster Contest include:
1st place – $100 gift card to Target
2nd place - $75 gift card to Target
Teachers of all 1st and 2nd Place winners will receive a $50.00 gift certificate.



Judging:
A panel of judges will review the posters after the April 17, 2015 deadline. Poster
designs will be judged on the following criteria:




Theme Expression
Originality/Creativity
Neatness/Artistic Execution
Students submitting drawings must attend a school that is located within the
service area of West Valley Water District to participate in the Poster Contest.
Award Ceremonies:
Contest winners, along with all students and teachers will be notified of the final
judging results. Award ceremonies will take place during May/June.
The winners will be featured in the 2016 West Valley Water District
Calendar.

Community Access Cablevision,
Newspaper Photographs, Videotaping and Posting on the Internet
West Valley Water District as part of their community information program may wish to place
students’ pictures and/or names on the Internet or in publications such as calendars and
newsletters to promote water awareness in the community.
Videos or photographs may also be taken to illustrate District generated news articles and
brochures. Such photography/videotaping is done for news purposes only and is not for
commercial use.
All photography/videotaping and Internet posting is done by accredited news media personnel or
West Valley Water District personnel. In order to use such photographic materials, parental
consent is necessary for any individual under 18 years of age.
