Setting Up the EPC To configure the EPC to match your workflow, select Application Settings from the Settings menu. You can adjust General Settings, Product Settings, and Dealer Settings. Applying General Settings With the General Settings tab selected, you can set the EPC language, set the navigation style to display images or text in the navigation indexes, and decide whether event notifications appear. Make required changes and click Save. Applying Product Settings Product Settings apply to a specific product group (see table below). Make required changes and click Save. Setting Purpose Comments Data Language Determine the language in which parts Available for all products. Available information is displayed languages are listed Region Select a region Available for all products. Filters Make a selection from each drop-down menu. Available for Suzuki Automotive only. Price Book Select from a list of available price books Available for all products, if your distributor has supplied you with a price book. Applying Dealer Settings Dealer Settings include dealership and contact information. Make required changes and click Save. Setting Up Integration Integration allows you to send the parts from your picklist to your DMS and display DMS information in the picklist. The integration method you choose depends on your DMS. Contact your DMS/DCS vendor or your network administrator to determine your DMS requirements. 1. Select Settings -> Integration Settings. 2. Click the New button. 3. Select an integration type from the Type menu. 4. Follow the instructions below to configure the integration type you selected. Completing the BDDI Prices Setup BDDI Integration allows the EPC to display part price and availability information from your DMS directly in the picklist. 1. Select BDDI Prices from the Type menu: 2. Enter a the name of your DMS into the Name field. 3. Enter the URL of the web service (required) and the Login ID (optional, depending on your DMS) that you use to access it. Please contact your DMS/DCS vendor or network administrator if you are not sure. 4. Click the Next button to open a list of column headers: 5. Mark the checkboxes next to the columns you want to display in the picklist, then click Next to open a list of products. 6. Select the catalog(s) that will send parts through the integration being configured. 7. Click the Next button. 8. Select an option to determine how this integration will be shared (Everyone in my dealership or Just me), then click the Next button. 9. Click the Finish button. Completing the File Writer Setup File Writer writes parts information from your shopping list to a file, which can be picked up by your DMS. 1. Select File Writer from the Type menu: 2. Enter a the name of your DMS into the Name field. 3. Select a file format. The File name and File folder fields are populated automatically. Note: This configuration process may differ slightly depending on the file format you select. 4. Make a selection from the Write menu (All Parts or Selected Parts). 5. Click the Next button to open a list of products. 6. Select the required products and click the Next button. 7. Select an option to determine how this integration will be applied (Everyone in my dealership or Just me), then click Next. 8. Click Finish. Completing the Send Picklist Setup Send Picklist converts the shopping list to a web format before sending it to the DMS. 1. Select Send Picklist from the Type menu: 2. Enter a the name of your DMS into the Name field. 3. Enter the URL of the web service and the Login ID that you use to access it. Please contact your DMS/DCS vendor or network administrator if you are not sure. 4. Make a selection from the Send menu (All Parts or Selected Parts). Mark the checkbox if you want parts to be sent as soon as they are added to the picklist. 5. Click the Next button to open a list of products. 6. Click the Finish button. Navigating the EPC All major EPC features can be accessed from the main EPC screen. Navigation Menus Navigation menus appear in the main section of the EPC window. Menu choices are displayed as thumbnail images. Hint: The Application Settings window has a setting that allows you to display text or thumbnails in the navigation menus. Click a thumbnail to advance to the next navigation menu. The choice you make determines the contents of the next menu. Hint: At each menu, type a keyword into the Type to narrow box to quickly locate a menu item. Parts Index and Illustrations The Parts Index and Illustration appears when you select an illustration thumbnail: Each part listed in the Parts Index includes a numerical callout, which corresponds to a matching illustration callout. From the Parts Index, you can view supersession history or add parts to your picklist. Menu Bar The menu bar allows you to open a new job or access parts information, online help, or the Settings window. Click the New Job button to begin a new search, while keeping the old job open. Depending on your browser settings, the new job will open as a new tab or in a new window. Click a menu name to view its options. Tool bar Enter a VIN into the first field and click the Find VIN button to set the catalog that matches the VIN. Mark the Show All Business Regions checkbox to display parts for all business regions. Enter a part number and click the Search button to search for a part number. Once you have selected a catalog, you can use this field to begin a part name search. Navigation Bar The navigation bar displays the path to your current EPC location. Click a navigation bar item to display its options. Select a different option to change your navigation path from that level and forward. Click the Home button to begin a new path. Picklist Use the picklist to compile and manage lists of parts. To open the picklist, click the icon located in the lower right corner of the EPC screen. Item Function Bring the picklist into view. Open the picklist in full screen mode. Hide the picklist. Opening Multiple Jobs You can start a new job without closing your current job. Click the New Job button tab in the EPC window. To close a job, close the job’s tab or the EPC window that contains the job. to open a new job as a new Using VINs Enter a VIN, chassis number, or serial number (last 8 digits) to display only parts associated with a specific unit. 1. Type the number into the VIN field: 2. Click the Find VIN button to locate the VIN and set the EPC catalog: The active VIN appears on the toolbar and the path to the vehicle is displayed on the navigation bar. Using VIN History The EPC records the last 15 numbers entered into the VIN field. Click the arrow next to the VIN field to view the VIN history: Click a number from the list to set the EPC catalog to the unit. Toggling VIN Filters ON or OFF When a VIN is active, parts that do not apply to the VIN or serial number are filtered out. To view an unfiltered list of parts, click the Filters ON checkbox to turn filtering off. Mark the checkbox to turn filtering on. Viewing VIN Details Click a VIN from the toolbar to view decoded information: Searching for Parts Once you have selected a product, you can search for a part by keyword or part number. Note: Before selecting a catalog, you can search for parts by full part number only. 1. Type your search criteria (three characters minimum): 2. Click the Search button or press the ENTER key. The search results appear: 3. Click a part from the list to go directly to the appropriate parts index and illustration. Search Tips • Type two search terms, separated by “and” to find parts containing both terms. Note: You must use the English version of “and” Translated versions will not work. • Type two search terms, separated by a space, to find parts containing either term. Searching for Parts by Group and Illustration Once you have entered a VIN or selected a vehicle, you can search for parts by selecting a group and an illustration. Parts are divided into groups. Only groups associated with the unit you select will appear. Click a group to display the illustration thumbnails or a list of illustrations for the group. Working with the Parts Index The parts index appears when you navigate to a group and select an illustration thumbnail: • The parts index lists the parts displayed in the illustration and includes related information. • The Callout column displays callouts numbers that match the callout numbers of the corresponding parts in the illustration. • Click a part name to highlight its part in the illustration. • Mark the Show only selected callouts checkbox to display only parts whose callouts are selected in the illustration. Viewing Part Details Click a part number in the parts index to open the Part Details window: • Click the Add to Cart button • Click the Where Used button • Click the Add Note button • Click the Price tab to view prices available for the part. • Click the Notes tab to view notes attached to the part. • Click the Supersession tab to view supersession information for the part. to add the part to the picklist. to see other vehicles on which the part can be used. to add a note to the part. Viewing Supersession Information When supersession is available, the supersession indicator appears in the parts index: Click an indicator to display the supersession information: Supersession information is displayed with the newest part at the top. Click the Add to Cart icon to add the selected part to the shopping list. Working with Illustrations Each part in the illustration displays a numerical callout that matches the corresponding callout in the part text. Clicking a callout highlights the callout in both locations. Click a selected callout to deselect it. Click and hold to drag the toolbar. Zoom in or out Expand the illustration pane to full screen or to return the illustration to its normal size Clear selected callouts Page through the illustrations in the group Add or edit an illustration note Print the illustration Email the illustration Working with Picklists Use Picklists to create lists of parts that can be sent to your DMS. The picklist pane appears at the bottom of the screen: The picklist pane is normally hidden from view when you first open the EPC. When the picklist is hidden, picklist icons appear in the lower, right-hand corner of the screen. Icon Function Bring the picklist into view. Open the picklist in full screen mode. Hide the picklist. The Picklist toolbar provides several list management tools: Item Function Clear all parts from the picklist. Save the picklist. Print the picklist. Add a part manually to the picklist. Show or hide picklist prices. Send parts to your DMS. This button appears only if you have configured integration. Saving a Picklist Save a picklist so that you can return to a job later or maintain lists of parts used for common repairs. 1. Click the Save button to open the Save Picklists window: 2. Type a picklist name. 3. Click Save. Managing Picklists Use Manage Picklists to open, rename, or delete a picklist. Select Manage -> Manage Picklists to open the Manage Picklists window: Opening a Saved Picklist 1. Highlight a picklist. 2. Click the Open button. Renaming a Picklist 1. Highlight a picklist. 2. Click the Rename button. 3. Type the new name and click the Rename button. Deleting a Picklist 1. Click the Delete button next to the list you want to delete. 2. Click the Yes button to delete the list. Displaying Picklist Prices Select an option from the picklist’s Prices menu to determine which price types will appear on the picklist. Creating an Estimate You can use the parts in the picklist to create an estimate for your customer. 1. Add the parts you need to the picklist. 2. Select Manage -> Create Estimate to open the Estimate window: 3. Vehicle information, along with parts and prices from the picklist are imported automatically into the window. Enter additional information as required. 4. Use the Hide Part Numbers checkbox to hide or show part numbers on the estimate. 5. Use the toolbar to save, print, or email the estimate. Viewing Notes The User Note icon appears when a note is available. It can appear on illustrations, on illustration thumbnails, or in the part text. Click the icon to view the note. Manufacturer notes can be attached to illustrations or to parts. User notes can be attached only to parts. Both note types display the same note icon. Adding User Notes Adding a User Note in the Parts Index 1. Click a part number to open the Part Details window. 2. Click the Add Note button to open the Add Note window: 3. Select a note type. Select Global to add the note to other occurrences of the part. Select Current Catalog to add the note to the part only within the current catalog. 4. Type your note. 5. Click Save. Adding a User Note to an Illustration 1. On an illustration, click Edit/View Notes icon: The Illustration Note window opens: 2. Type your note. 3. Click Save. Editing a Note 1. Click a User Note icon to open the Part Details window: 2. Click an Edit Note icon to open the editing window: 3. Edit the note. 4. Click Save. Importing User Notes If you used PartsManager Pro or the Suzuki Worldwide EPC previously, you can move your notes to the new EPC. Importing notes is a three step process. Step 1: Running the Migration Tool 1. Click Manage -> Manage User Notes to open the User Note Management window. 2. Click the Import button to open the Import User Notes window: 3. Click the Click Here to Download button to open the Migration window: 4. Select a language. 5. Select Suzuki WW or PartsManager Pro and a product: 6. Click Start. 7. Select the location to which you want to save the notes and click the Save button. The default file name is migratedUserNotes.xml. Step 2: Selecting a Product From the Import User Notes window, select a product from the pull down menu in Step 2. Step 3: Importing the Notes 1. From the Import User Notes window, use the Step 3 Browse button to locate the migratedUserNotes.xml file. 2. Click Import. The imported notes appear. 3. Click Close.
