Where’s my …?Machine- Teams must work together to become different machines using
only their bodies as the pieces. Give teams a set time to create their
machine and then time to present. Machine examples include: toaster, car,
airplane, washing machine, telephone, and lawn mower.
Capture the Flag- Split into two teams and divide a set area into two. Each
team hides an object (the flag) on their side of the play area. The goal of
each team is to get to the other side, capture the other team’s flag, and
return to their original side without being tagged. If a player is tagged they
have to go to a designated ‘jail’ space. To get out of jail other team mates
must make it safely to the other side and tag jail members who then have to
walk back to their own side before trying to get the flag again.
Balloon Globes- Blow up and knot balloons, students can draw the
continents of the globe to create their own.
Simon Says- One student is selected to be Simon, while the rest of the
students gather in front of them. Simon gives commands, starting with
“Simon says
”. If they do not include this at the beginning of their
command, other students should not follow the command. If they
accidentally do, they are out.
Catapult- Make a stack of popsicle sticks and rubber
band each end together. Place a popsicle stick in
between the bottom two and one over the top (turned
the opposite way), secure these with a rubber band,
and shift them towards the initial stack to create a
‘catapult’.
Screaming & Running- Have kids take one big breath, and run while
screaming. When they can’t scream anymore, they stop in place. See how
far they can get!
Dream catchers- Cut out the rim of a paper plate form a
circle for the rim of the dream catcher, then they can be
decorated with stickers, paint, markers, etc. Hole punch
circles around the outside of the plate to weave string
throughout the center. Hole punch a few holes along the
bottom to hang strings with beads or feathers from the
bottom.
Gak- Empty two 4 oz. bottles of Elmer’s glue into a bowl, then refill them
with warm water, shake and empty into the same bowl. Add in desired food
coloring and set this mixture aside. Add ½ cup of warm water and 1 tsp.
borax into a cup, mixing until the borax dissolves. Add this mixture to the
glue and water bowl and stir it around. Keep mixing with hands until it
becomes the perfect gooey consistency.
Ant Tag- One person is It and has to tag all other players like regular tag.
However, when a player is tagged they must lay on their back with their
arms and legs up in the air like a dead ant, to come back alive four players
must tag one of each of their limbs. After someone has become a dead ant
three times, they are it.
Pinecone Apples- Paint pinecones with red, green or yellow paint to look
like an apple and attach green cut out leaves to the top of them.
