Farming
The ancient Egyptians had
the ability to grow
everything they needed to
eat. Although Egypt is a
desert, the Egyptians
settled near the Nile River .
Every year the Nile floods
for three months,bringing
,rich soil and silt that
fertilizes the land.
Egyptians developed a well
–designed system of canals
to bring the water from the
Nile into other areas and
using forming techniques
,they grew a wide variety of
foods.
Egyptian Art
 A lot of what we know about the Ancient Egyptians
comes from their art. From the many pieces of art
they created we can learn things like what they looked
like, what kind of clothes they wore, what jobs they
worked and what they considered important.
Pyramids
It is estimated that
138 pyramids survive
in Egypt, varying
widely in layout,
size, location and
purpose. The first
was built in C2650
BC for King Djoser.
His bench shaped
‘mastaba’ tomb was
embllised to form a
six-tiered,60 meterhigh step pyramid
The River Nile
Ancoient Egypt depended on the
waters f the River Nile, which flows
through harsh and arid
desert. Only the land on the banks
of the Nile could be cultivated to
support life. The rest of Egypt was,
and is, desert.
Every year rain further south in
Africa and melting snow in the
highlands of Ethiopia caused the
Nile in Egypt to flood. When the
floods went down, the rich soil
which the water had brought down
from the mountainsides was left on
the fields and caused them to be
extremely fertile. The Nile gave the
civilization of Egypt its life.
Temple of Edfu
 The Temple of Edfu is an
ancient Egyptian temple,
located on the west bank
of the Nile in Edfu,
Upper Egypt. The city
was known in GrecoRoman times as
Apollonopolis Magna,
after the chief god
Horus-Apollo
History of Egypt
The ancient Egyptian
civilization lasted for
more than 3000 years,
longer than any other
civilisation in human
history. Although we
are talking about a
period that began
more than 5000 years
ago, we know a great
deal about ancient
Egypt.
Sphinx
In Greek tradition, it
has the head of a
human, the haunches
of a lion, and
sometimes the wings
of a bird. It is
mythicised as
treacherous and
merciless
Egyptian Arifact
The Ancient
Egyptian
civillization
lasted over 3,000
years and during
that time they
created man
items that we can
still see today.
Letters
Hieroglyphs
emerged from
the preliterate
artistic traditions
of Egypt. For
example,
symbols on
Gerzean pottery
from c. 4000 BCE
resemble
hieroglyphic
writing
In August, two young girls named Melanie
Ross and April Hall, along with Melanie's
four-year-old brother Marshall and his
stuffed octopus Security, begin playing in
the storage yard of A-Z Antiques, a store
which sells curious and used merchandise
and mostly many things. The children enter
through a loose board in the fence. The
owner of the store, "The Professor," is a
mysterious man of whom the neighborhood
children are afraid. April has met him once
and finds him and his store interesting.
Then April, Melanie, and Marshall research
actual Ancient Egyptian belief systems and
practices, and create their own rituals
intended to reproduce them more or less
authentically. They are joined by Elizabeth
Chung, a nine-year-old [Chinese American]
girl who moves into their apartment
building with her mother and two younger
sisters. Elizabeth's name in the game is
Neferbeth.
The clothing
 Egyptian Clothing
 Egypt has hot and dry weather
because so much of it is a desert.
The ancient Egyptians had to
have clothing that was not too
hot and allowed free flowing air
to cool their bodies. Most of the
clothes they wore were made of
linen that was made from the
flax plant. The type and quality
of linen depended upon how
rich the person was.
Book of the Dead
The ancient Egyptian ‘Book of
the Dead’ is part of the Egyptian
religion. It contains all of the
information that is needed for
the spirit of someone who has
died to get through the trials and
tests and emerge to their
afterlife. Hieroglyphs and
passages have been found on the
walls of many burial tombs.
Egypt’s Flag
Egypt’s flag has red ,white and
black. The Free Officers who
toppled King Farouk in the
Revolution of 1952 assigned
specific symbolism to each of
the three bands of the Arab
Liberation flag. The red band
symbolises the period before
the Revolution, a time
characterized by the struggle
against the monarchy, and the
British occupation of the
country. The white band
symbolizes the bloodless
nature of the Revolution itself.
The black band symbolizes the
end of the oppression of the
Egyptian people at the hands
of the monarchy, and foreign
imperialism.[1]
Gods
These figures are trying
together lotus and
papyrus the plants of
upper and lower Egypt ,
around the hieroglyph
meaning “unite”. Often
called the “Nile Gods “
these figures were
symbols of the fertility
that came from the
river’s annal food.The
Egyptians believed their
pharaoh was a type of
God.
Mummies!
 A mummy is a deceased human or an
animal whose skin and organs have been
preserved by either intentional or
accidental exposure to chemicals,
extreme cold, very low humidity, or lack
of air, so that the recovered body does
not decay further if kept in cool and dry
conditions. Some authorities restrict the
use of the term to bodies
deliberately embalmed with chemicals,
but the use of the word to cover
accidentally desiccated bodies goes back
to at least 1615 AD (See the
sectionEtymology and meaning).
 Mummies of humans and other animals
have been found on every
continent,[1] both as a result of natural
preservation through unusual
conditions, and as cultural artifacts.
Over one million animal mummies have
been found in Egypt, many of which are
cats.
