to cross a road. However, the truth is that using a crosswalk
requires particular care and attention. Children in particular may
place too much trust in the perceived safety of crosswalks.

Välkky is an active traffic indicator which makes drivers reduce
their speeds. With this technology the safety of crosswalks can
be significantly improved. Välkky warns drivers when a pedestrian or cyclist is approaching the crosswalk, giving drivers
plenty of time to react and slow down.
Välkky is mounted on a crosswalk’s existing traffic sign posts
on both sides of the road. When a pedestrian or a cyclist
comes within range of Välkky’s sensors, the indicator’s blue
and white LED lights start to flash. The flashing lights immediately catch the attention of approaching vehicles, allowing
drivers to slow down in time.
Reliable and easy to maintain
Välkky is quick and easy to install. It is easily fixed to a crosswalk’s existing posts,after which it is immediately ready for use.
Välkky is battery operated, which means it does not require an
external power source.
Variety of applications
In addition to crosswalks, Välkky can also be used as an indicator light at bus stops and on routes where traffic is light, as
well as in pedestrian underpasses.
