Title: Analysis of complex industrial eco-innovation: key aspects for development of symbiotic relationship between two industrial enterprises. Supervision: Romain Farel, Elizaveta Kuznetsova (PS2E) Marija Jankovic Brief presentation According to the OECD report ‘Eco-Innovation in Industry: Enabling Green Growth’ the industrial ecoinnovations are able tackle climate change and realise “green growth” by introduction of breakthrough innovative solutions (e.g., technological, economic, social etc.) while improving industrial competitiveness. One of these industrial eco-innovations is the industrial symbiosis aiming at connecting sinks and sources of different industrial enterprises for energy/materials exchanges. On the one hand, these exchanges allow to create energy/material pooling to tackle the problem of local resource scarcity and to decrease environmental pollution. On the other hand, industrial symbiosis allows to create added value for the industrial energy/material waste and decrease the expenses for energy/material purchase. Unfortunately, the mechanism for the industrial symbiosis creation is not very well explored. In this view, the goal of this study is: • • to analyze the main stages of the mechanism for industrial symbiosis creation (from the idea to the implementation); to identify and review different important aspects (e.g., technological development, regulation, economics and finance, social acceptance and collaboration) which play the role of barriers and/or drivers for industrial symbiosis development. In addition, student can propose the way how to account these aspects at the earlier stages of the industrial symbiosis development (e.g., through metrics or indicators).
