Steering Committee listened to experts in each of 23 focus areas
Steering Committee identified themes to impact multiple Leading Health Indicators and selected
three workgroups around top-priority themes:
• Reducing/Eliminating Health and Disease Disparities
• System Interventions to Address Social Determinants of Health
• Early Disease Prevention, Risk Identification, and Intervention for Women, Children, &
Adolescents
Workgroups recommend specific strategies to make major impact on Leading Health Indicators
Steering Committee accepts recommendations from Workgroup members indicated which their
organization is most interested in pursuing.
Steering Committee requests specific policy and program recommendations
Three Action Groups formed
Action Group recommendations presented to the Steering Committee
Steering Committee sets short-term policy agenda to markedly improve 10 Leading Health Indicators
