Page 1
GOLF NORTHLAND SELECTION CRITERIA:
1. Players must be a NZ Citizen or hold a NZ Residence Permit
2. Players must be a member of a club within the Northland District
3. Players are required to sign the Golf Northland player’s Code of Conduct on an annual basis. Failure
to do so will result in non-selection.
4. Selection of Representatives will be primarily based on scoring across designated Stroke Play events
deemed trials. Gross scores from each designated trial event will be added and divided by the
number of rounds played to establish the scoring average; i.e. (72+71+73)/3 = 72 average.
5. Players will be ranked in order of their scoring average. Rankings will be posted online at
www.golfnorthland.co.nz
6. Results will accumulate over the course of the year; there will be no re-set of the rankings between
fixtures. The rankings following the most recent trial tournament will determine the Northland
team selected for each of the representative matches throughout the year.
a. Selectors Picks: The final two (2) spots in any eight (8) or ten (10) person team, or the final
spot in any five (5) or six (6) person team, shall be the selector’s pick(s). The selectors
reserve the right to select any player as a member of any representative team.
The selector’s pick/s will be based on additional criteria, as below:
 Current handicap, form and general fitness
 Handicaps throughout the year
 Experience and availability
 Matchplay results in open events, and the various Northland Pennants series
 Game management skills, (includes course and self-management skills)
 Ability to contribute and function within the team environment
 Commitment and attitude
 Adherence to the rules of golf, Golf Northland code of conduct, and general good sportsmanship
Trialists are expected to attend all compulsory trials. Any request for dispensation must be directed,
preferably in writing by email to the convenor of selectors for Women:
Sherrill Glen: [email protected]
Dispensation will only be granted in the following circumstances:
