Temporary Utility Release for Gas and/or Electric If your project will require a release of Gas and/or Electric Service for testing purposes prior to approval of the final inspection, you may apply for a Temporary Utility Release with the City of Anaheim Building Division. Temporary Utility Releases are granted on a case-by-case basis. The following items are required: Approval to apply for a Temporary Utility release must be obtained by your Building Inspector prior to submitting your application. Upon submittal of the Temporary Utility Services application, a fee of $186.18 will need to be paid in person at the City of Anaheim’s Building Division permit counter. Be advised that each type of utility release (electric & gas) requires a separate fee. The application will need to identify what type of utility release is being requested (gas or electrical), why the release is being requested prior to final inspections (e.g. testing equipment, etc.) and how long the utility release will be needed (1 month, 2 months, etc.). Once we have accepted your request and processed payment, an onsite inspection will be scheduled with your assigned Building Inspector. Once the Building Inspector has approved your request, a utility release will be sent to either the City of Anaheim Utility department for an electrical release or the Gas Co. for a release of the gas meter. (Please note that this process may take approximately 5 business days to complete. Please plan/schedule accordingly between submittal of your request and the desired Utility Release date).
