Reading: 20-30 minutes of reading. Fill in your reading log. As you read,
remember that readers think and ask questions as they read. During your reading,
write at least 2 stop and jots. Some examples are:
 What type of person is the character? Are they kind? Selfish? Shy? Use
examples from the text to prove your idea.
 What are the big events (problems, conversations) that are happening?
 How are the big events changing what is happening in the story?
 How do you feel about the character? Do you agree with their actions,
feelings, or words? Tell why or why not.
Writing: Narrative Writing. Begin writing a new small moments story.
Remember, your small moment story should focus on 1 moment that is stretched
out across the pages. Some ideas are:
 The day my tooth came out
 My trip to the zoo
 A day at the park
Math: Short Response #1.
Social Studies: Read the article “The Difference Between Maps and Globes”
and answer the following question: What is the author’s purpose for writing this
article and how do you know? (Why did the author write this article?)
Reading: 20-30 minutes of reading. Fill in your reading log. Stop and jot at least
twice during your reading. Use Monday’s ideas to complete your stop and jots.
Writing: Narrative Writing. Continue working on your small moment story. Make
sure that you are sticking to your topic. Also, review your writing and make sure
you are using details.

Math: Short Response #2
Social Studies: Reread the article “The Difference Between Maps and Globes”
and answer the following question: Explain why someone might want to use a map
instead of a globe to find a location. Use examples from the text to help you
answer your question.
Reading: 20-30 minutes of reading. Fill in your reading log. Readers monitor how well they
are reading. As you read, think about how well you are reading. Are you reading with 4 star
fluency? 3 star? 2 star? 1 star? Read out loud to someone at home to monitor how well you
are reading. What plan do you have to improve your fluency? If you are reading with 4 star
fluency, what is your next reading goal?
Writing: Narrative Writing. Continue your small moment story. Remember that the right
punctuation makes a story come to life. Reread your story and check for the best punctuation to
make your story come to life.

questions are you read. For example:
 WHO are the characters in the story?
 WHAT is Henry’s big problem in the story?
 WHY is this a problem?
 WHERE is the story taking place?
 HOW does Henry feel when Mudge is lost?
Writing: Narrative Writing. Reread your small moment story and think about a
good title for the story. A good title gets readers ready for what you are going to
share with them.
Math: Short Response #4
Social Studies: Reread the article “The Difference Between Maps and Globes”
and answer the comprehension questions.
Reading: 20-30 minutes of reading. Fill in your reading log
Writing: Complete your small moment story and bring it in on Monday to share
with your writing partner.
Math: Short Response #5
Science: Today we conducted the Rock Sorting investigation. Write a Science
Reflection that answers the following question:
What did you observe about the river rocks? How did you sort the rocks? What did
you notice about the rocks after you put them in the water? How did the rocks
change after you put them in the water? Use the science word bank below to help
you in your response.

2. The local pet shop has 27 cats. They also have 13 more dogs than cats. How many

3. Jim found $4 on a park bench and puts it in his piggy bank. Now he has $12 in his

4. Natasha’s mom gave her some stickers. She put 10 on her notebook and 15 on her
