An impossible choice. The Girl Who was Raised by Wolverine. September 9th – 18th, 2016 in the Waterfront Theatre Vancouver, BC (August 10th, 2016) – Vancouver Fringe Festival 2016 presents the winner of the 2016 Fringe New Play Prize: The Girl Who was Raised by Wolverine, at the Waterfront Theatre from September 9th – 18th, 2016. The play is written and directed by Deneh’Cho Thompson. SHOW DESCRIPTION: A dystopic future, resources are depleted, overpopulation is destroying the earth. A militant government keeps people locked away in individual living quarters as the population continues to grow. The time of the culling is near. Stephanie, like so many others, has been confined since she was a child. She holds on dearly to the memories of her childhood, her mother and father. She is isolated and alone - until Wolverine appears. The Girl Who was Raised by Wolverine is a story of reawakening and self identity. By exploring the deceptive qualities of memory and the descriptive qualities of cultural identity this play hopes to uncover space to challenge prescribed identity and encourage the practice self-identifying.
