EYFS Homework Expectations





Daily Reading - home reader book and diary signed
Weekly ‘Learning Log’ homework (usually topic related but is cross curricular)
Key Words practise alongside daily reading. Assessed in school through phonics
Literacy and Mathematics targets set termly (at parents evening) to be explored at
home
Additional phonics and handwriting homework will be sent home at regular intervals
but is not always weekly.







Daily Reading- home reading book and diary signed
Key Words – list to be sent home, assessed frequently in class – reading and
spelling
‘Learning Log’ task set linked to different curriculum areas as and when appropriate
Numeracy – linked to the KIRFs(Key Instant Recall Facts) – to practice oral and
mental work focusing on the specific KIRF’s for the half term – supporting work
done in school
Y2s times tables
Individual additional work set where appropriate
Lower Key Stage 2 Homework Expectations


Daily reading at home – home reader book and diary signed
Literacy – complete an activity about grammar, spelling and a writing activity from
the ‘Workabook’. Set weekly



Numeracy – linked to the KIRFs(Key Instant Recall Facts) – to practice oral and
mental work focusing on the specific KIRF’s for the half term – supporting work
done in school
Individual work set when appropriate
Occasional creative activities usually linked to whole school themes at the time for
example designing a Christmas card
Upper Key Stage 2 Homework Expectations
Daily Reading at least 15 mins each evening- home reader book and diary signed
Literacy
Workabooks: weekly tasks set by teachers which include:
 Spellings to be learnt
 Practising language task
 Thinking and writing task
Children must take responsibility to complete these tasks and return the books by
Wednesday when the next tasks will be set.
Numeracy
Each Friday, children will be set a weekly task practising skills worked upon in class that
week. This folder needs to be returned to their maths teacher by Thursday.
