You use the JSA checklist as a guide to the potential hazards that you may find. You use the Job Task List to break down the job, identify the hazards and document the steps taken to mitigate the hazards. 2 But have you ever thought that… 3 …YOU Could Be The Hazard? 4 Are YOU The Hazard? What types of equipment may be affected by your actions? Some examples follow this slide. 5 What equipment may be affected by your actions? Electrical Switches Accidental bumping of the switch may turn critical equipment on/off. 6 What equipment may be affected by your actions? Valves – ball checks Accidental bumping of the handle may shut down critical equipment. 7 What equipment may be affected by your actions? Flexible Conduit Damage to conduit or wires. 8 What equipment may be affected by your actions? Tubing Crimped tubing or separation from the equipment. 9 What equipment may be affected by your actions? Cables Damage to armor or insulation. Separation from the equipment. 10 What equipment may be affected by your actions? Gauges Broken faces/dials. The gauge stem could crack or be broken. 11 What equipment may be affected by your actions? Steam Tracing Crimped or cut tubing; separation of fittings causing steam leak. 12 Are YOU The Hazard? Examples of actions that could cause a hazard to equipment: • • • • Materials Handling (Manual or Mechanical) Body position Moving or stowing ladders Pulling cords, rope, cables or hoses 13 Are YOU The Hazard?
