piece to be performed - Premiere Performances of Hong Kong

5th Hong Kong International Chamber Music Festival
Outreach & Education Programme Chamber Music Workshops
Application Form
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1. The Chamber Music Workshops on 11 and 18 January, 2014 combine a
performance platform for chamber music players with constructive comments by
Festival Artist Toby Hoffman. Each performing group will play one movement
(maximum 12 minutes) of an ensemble work and Mr Hoffman will provide feedback
and coaching for the groups.
2. Interested groups should submit one application form with information typed in, or
with legible handwriting and scanned for e-mail submission.
3. All materials must be submitted electronically and sent to [email protected] by 11:59pm
Hong Kong Time on 20 December 2013. Applications that meet the requirements will
be accepted on a first-come first-served basis subject to the availability of time slots.
Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
4. Groups accepted for participation will be notified by email by 31 December 2013.
5. Preference will be given to piano trios, piano or string quartet, or piano or string
quintet. Wind instruments are also welcome but should not exceed one per group.
6. The expected level of playing is "intermediate to advanced". For example, any
Haydn string quartet subsequent to Op.20, and Mozart’s The 10 Celebrated String
Quartets, and/or chamber works by Dvorak, Schubert, Schumann, Ravel, Debussy,
Smetana, and Brahms are appropriate. If in doubt, please enquire by emailing
[email protected]
7. It is preferred if groups do not form solely for the purpose of playing in this
masterclass; it is intended to improve the level of playing of existing groups. Similarly,
groups are discouraged from learning a new piece of music specifically for this
workshop. It is preferred for groups to hone a piece of music in their existing
repertoire to ensure adequate rehearsal and preparation time.
8. Any individual may not participate in more than one group except if such individual
is playing viola in at least one of the two groups.
9. Each group should appoint a Designated Group Leader, who will be the contact
point with PPHK and must be contactable via phone and e-mail.
10. Participating groups and/or players also impliedly agree to attend the entirety of the
chamber music workshop in which they are participating as members of the
audience. They are also strongly encouraged to attend other chamber music
workshop.
