Video Game Project Proposal

Video Game Project Proposal
By Steven Gadman
Introduction
For my project for the kids at the Kennedy Day School, is going to be a one
button space shooter. This space shooter is going to a have a ship on the bottom of the
screen that will move left to right by itself. All the kids will have to do is press the
spacebar to shoot at enemy ships up on top. One thing that I think that will set this apart
from most online games is the chance for the kids to be able to upload their own mp3 to
Amazon S3 server and listen to them in the game. This project is going to be split up into
three releases. The first release is going to be the Alpha which is code named Luigi,
which is due out April 22nd. Next will be the Beta which is code named Mario, which is
due out May 1st. And then finally it will be the Final Release, which is due out May 8th.
The following paragraphs will outline what will be in each release as well as some
pictures of the already finished user interface.
Alpha: Code-named Luigi
This stage is mostly going to be the user interface for my project. It will have a
menu screen, upload, instructions, as well as a basic layout of the game screen. I have
already worked on this stage because of time limitations the week it is due. I already
have upload working as well as custom soundtracks. Please take a lot below for the
screens from my project.

Beta: Code-named Mario
For the beta release I want to have most of the game done. I want to have a space
ship moving left and right and some enemies on the screen. If I have some time I would
like to have the space ship shoot at the enemies and some collision detection done, but if I
can’t get that to work it will have to wait for the final release.
Final Release
The final will have the whole project finished, from the instructions on how to
work the game to collision detection with explosions. This project is going to be hard to
get done in the little amount of time we have but once it is done and we show it to the
kids at the school, I know it will be worth it.
