November 3, 2015 I. II. III. IV. V. VI. Call to Order Approval of Agenda T-Bar M Camps Presentation Devotional and Prayer Requests – Kayla Headley Swearing in New Members Organization Charter A. Heart of Gold 1. Focus on pediatric cancer 2. Questions a) Colton Jacob – Are y’all getting your degrees in medical studies? No one specifically b) Sophie Rivera – What kind of funding would you need from SGA? There is going to be a lot of fundraising but won’t need to heavily rely on SGA c) Collin Cavendish – Have you thought about partnering with Make a Wish? There’s a lot of legal issues so possibly not d) Tyler Baker – What is the classification of those in leadership? Juniors and sophomores e) Collin Cavendish – What would the toy drive look like on campus? All of the toys would need to be new. There would be boxes around campus and those toys would be donated to McLane Children’s hospital. f) Colton Jacob – How many events and fundraisers a semester? Probably once a semester, maybe two. g) Pros and Cons: (1) Colton Jacob: Pro – If you are sick, it is nice to have someone who is caring for you, outside of the hospital staff. Support means the world to people with illness. (2) Danny Kown: Pro – There’s not many organizations that advocate for awareness of cancer. November 3, 2015 (3) Officially an organization! Woo hoo! B. Nursing Christian Fellowship 1. An organization for nursing students who want to be encouraged in their faith 2. Had over 50 people looking for information, a lot of people are very excited about this organization 3. Questions: a) Sophie Rivera – What are yalls classifications? One co-president is graduating in December, one next May, others this May. Plans to bring in another co-president sooner rather than later b) Colton Jacob – What kind of funding would y’all need from SGA? Doesn’t plan to spend a lot of money in the organization. c) Collin Cavendish – Is this organization for only nursing students at a certain level or all nursing students? Plans to include any nursing students interested. d) Ashley Ward – Would members need to pay dues, and what does membership look like? The only requirements would be for officers to be part of the national member, other than that there are no specific requirements. e) Pros and cons: (1) Kendyll Robinson: Pro – It is cool to see students supporting students (2) Officially an organization! Woo hoo! VII. BREAK – 5 minutes VIII. Class Reports A. Freshman Class – Tyler Baker 1. Talked about doing stuff with search cru B. Sophomore Class – Esther Weaver 1. Had a great time C. Junior Class – Brittany Read 1. Welcomed new members, discussed bill ideas D. Senior Class – Colton Jacob 1. Wants to work on a bill collectively as the senior class IX. New Business A. Senate Resignation November 3, 2015 B. Senate Member of the Month – Alex Kown 1. Esther Weaver C. Attire Survey – Maddie Davis 1. Everyone wants a shirt D. Senior Class Rings – Colton Jacob 1. Talked to Dr. B and between the people involved in senior rings, everyone is interested in moving the dates for when seniors get their rings 2. Planning a meeting with Dani Beth about what to do with the ring ceremony E. Reaching Out – Jonah Fox 1. November 7th 2. Expects SGA to be there at 8:20am 3. Wear RO shirt on Thursday 4. People must have a sharpie X on their hand to get a shirt 5. Will receive more information on this in an email F. Finances Update – James Ewing 1. There is no cap for fundraising 2. The organizations presenting don’t have to have a very specific financial plan, rather a general idea of financial needs G. Faculty/Staff Member of the Month Nominations – Maddie Davis 1. Dr. Andrew Woodward 2. Denise Kharimkani X. Open Floor A. Wes Bailey – Scheduling a meeting with Sue Weaver about leveling the intramural fields B. Jenni Owens – Wants to make a meeting with Gary Sargeant about potential parking concerns. Can look to Kendyll for help on this. 1/3 of the parking on Moore street has been changed to white spaces rather than yellow. Jenni has been looking at the parking spaces and they are not being used effectively. November 3, 2015 1.
