Our students, both
on the court and in the stands,
displayed the strength of
character that is epitomized
in the slogan, “Right Attitude
Means Success!” Whether it was
the way our team fought back
from a 15-point deficit on Friday
night, or when our students
sang the National Anthem to
start the 3rd place game, we
made an indelible mark on the
2011 State Basketball finals.
Fifty years from now people
will talk about the group of kids
who came from Glenbard East
and never backed down, never
quit, and always did the right
thing.
Never has any Principal been more
proud of a group of young people. I am also so proud of our
staff. The teachers and support
staff at Glenbard East came down
in huge numbers to support our
kids and our school. Many of
them brought their families along
with them. It was so impressive
to look up from the floor and see
that spread of generations in the
stands.
The
weekend
just
reinforced the idea that “Today is
a Great Day to be a Ram!

The Echo staff would like to
congratulate the boy’s basketball team for their great back to
back DVC championships over
the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011
seasons.
Go Rams!!!
For the past three
months, I had the best seat in
the house at the Rams varsity
basketball
games.
Sitting
courtside to watch the progress
of the boys take third place at
state was an experience only
to be had by the Glenbard East
cheerleaders. Throughout the
season, the cheerleaders were
passionate as well as aware of
the details of the game. A Rams
loss was our loss, too.
With that sort of
passion from us as well as the
East Side Crew, it is good to
know that Ram Pride has a
steady foundation to grow.
Being a cheerleader, not only
did we see the effect of the East
Side Crew, but we got a close
up of the basketball players
themselves. We heard every
word of enthusiasm from Coach
Miller, we saw every bead of
sweat drip from the player’s
faces, we heard every scream
of pain or fury yelled, and yes,
sometimes we even smelled
them, but I won’t go into detail
about that. The point is, we had
an experience that was so real
that it was unreal. Because of
this, I have a new perspective
of each of those basketball
players who dared to “Dream
the Dream.”
Aside from the players,
let me commend the East Side
Crew for their dedication to
the team. We watched the
crowd grow bigger and bigger
with each win, and the energy
soar to new heights every
time Johnny Hill delivered a
slam dunk in the face of our
opponents. We by far have the
best cheering section of any
school – the number of people
and the noise is incomparable.
With the East Side Crew,
everyday is a proud day to be
a Ram. To further this fighting
fury, the East Side Crew and
the cheerleaders should band
together in an unstoppable
wrath of spirit for future years.
When the cheerleaders start a
catchy cheer, join in!
In all, I had the time of
my life cheering on the Rams.
I have never been so proud to
dawn red and black and step
out in front of a crowd. The
cheerleaders did more than
throw each other in the air
and tumble down the court,
we invested in a lifetime of
memories and a fierce passion
that never will be stopped.
Once a Ram, always a Ram.
Great season boys!
