Shopping Matters Provides Grant to Promote Learning
About Thrifty and Healthy Food Shopping.
Community Concepts received a $500 Shopping Matters grant which enabled us
to provide 3 tours in three locations to support families learning how to extend
their food dollars and shop for healthy foods. We collaborated with Cooperative
Extension Programs who provided the tour education at local Wal-Mart Centers.
Families learned how to compare prices, read labels and unit prices, and shop for
best values.
In all, 30 families benefited from the program and received reusable shopping
bags, calculators, Wal-Mart gift card, Shopping Matters manual and a gas card.
