EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
Until 31st December 2016 we are seeking
expressions of interest from teams that are keen
to receive support in delivering a value-based
approach and improving their decision-making.
Best Possible Value (BPV) is one of six complementary action areas of the national FutureFocused Finance Programme which is sponsored by the five strategic leaders of the NHS
finance profession:
We’ve developed a collection of tools that help groups to define a clear, evidence-based
measure of value in terms of patient outcomes, and to agree roles and responsibilities
throughout a decision process.
BPV tools are designed to be flexible; they can be used for any size or type of decision,
adapted to suit individual circumstance, and can be incorporated into existing organisational
systems and processes.
All organisations within the healthcare system are expected to adopt this
methodology into their decision making.
To support organisations in applying this method we would like to form a group of ‘BPV
Specialists’ – a network of individuals around the UK that are trained in the use of BPV tools
and who can act as decision facilitators. Colleagues from any part of the health system –
particularly ALBs – are encouraged to participate.
We will be formally registering decision teams in January 2017 to receive training and become
BPV Specialists. To get a better idea of how many teams would like to register for these
training sessions, we’d welcome your submission of an Expression of Interest.

Thank you for your interest in registering your
decision team for BPV Specialist training.
Registration will be taking place in January
2017 according to the key terms listed below.
Decision teams are recommended to contain up to six people who are involved in a shared
decision and will be comprised of:
At least one finance representative
At least one clinical representative
A project manager
An ALB representative
An analyst
A patient representative

In order to register their commitment to BPV in January 2017, decision teams will need to
provide:





The decision subject
Evidence of sponsorship from the Director of Finance or Chief Finance Officer
Named team members and their roles within the decision
An outline decision timetable and ‘check-in’ points with BPV
Written agreement to share completed templates
Upon registration in January, the BPV Programme will agree to provide to decision teams:





Formal training sessions to educate BPV Specialists
Access to training materials
Professional networking opportunities with the BPV Specialist community
Project management support to arrange training
Promotion of best practice cases
