Religious Education Gifted and Talented students Three-quarters of people in the world, and Britain, have a religious belief. Religious Education seeks to promote the understanding of beliefs and how they affect human lives and experiences. Gifted and Talented at Key Stage 3 At Key Stage 3 students are encouraged to examine the beliefs of three of the world’s main faiths. They develop the skills of empathy and insight. There is a focus on the ability to understand why individuals act the way that they do. Students are taught in mixed ability classes, allowing all pupils to progress at their own pace, develop their own beliefs and understand others and express these views in class. Gifted and Talented at Key Stage 4 The opportunity to understand the influence of beliefs on our lives and lifestyles continues at GCSE. All students study a short course in RS, and there is an opportunity for those expressing a deeper interest to study the subject to a full course GCSE. The topics studied allow students to develop a mature and in-depth reflective skill that will be of use in all careers. An end of unit test ensures that all students know how well they are progressing. Other Activities you might want to do; Watch out for some interesting programmes, or read the newspapers.
