As you are expected to summarize and quote from the article—plus the sources under 3 below—you should write up to two pages. A short response will not be accepted; nor will a response that does not show evidence of use of the all the sources. 4. Other sources to be used: Extracted pages from the two books by Louann Brizedine on the female and male brains. Lori Oliwenstein, “The Most Important Sex Organ,” Your Brain: A User’s Guide (Time Books,. 2009), pp. 32-7. Task: write a reasoned and informed response to the “Critical Thinking Applied” on pp. 222-3 of the textbook on “The Question of Gender Differences.” 1 Gender Differences As we know male and female have too many differences. We have different way to do things. Like what Hyde say “between men and women “are important mainly because they are amplified by cultural beliefs and roles.” I agree with that because male and female they have different way to do thinks, to solve things, and different interests and responsibilities. For example: When male and female get marriage these two has different responsibility to build up them home. The father has to get work and make up money. But she has to get care about the kids and home. In that part the Roy Banmeister (2007) says “calls our attention to a different set of facts. He notes that men, as a group, are more variable and extreme than women—with more men lying at the opposite poles of virtually all mental and behavioral dimensions.” In this case he just said men are better than women in variable and extreme issue. But these it may be true may be not because the thinks and the emotion is different form man and other man also that is related to women. So the variable and the extreme are not Compulsory men is better than women in these things. Like some people say “Your fingers are not equal”. However, as the Hyde say “any male–female differences we may find in the brains of men and women are “hard wired” in this point there are also different between male and female brain. Some people they do some reach about that case. In Lori Oliwenstein, “The Most Important Sex Organ,” they ask question “Who’s better at what?” the try to see which is sex is better in some cases male or female. In male section they have section about built for size they mention the size of male brans are 8% to 10% bigger. It may be true but some people who have problem in brain development so in this point that could be not true in this situation. On the other hand, in women section they mention. Women are better at (Fine control) they say in this point “Girls do better at skills like putting pegs in holes. Yes, this makes them seamstresses and also surgeons” I think this is not true because they say “Girls” in this point they mean all girls have the same skills in this area. Why? Because all people they will not do or like some specific things. All people or all gender they have fun when 2 they do some likely things. For example in Saudi Arabia some male like to have his own cars and they enjoy when he drive it. Also women in Saudi she likes to have her own kitchen. She will not let people miss with her kitchen. In same book they say “14.5 the age at which boys’ brains reach peak size. And 10.5 the age at which girls’ brains reach peak volume” in this point we have a different way to brain development. Since we know there are many different between male and female brains so we can now do some comparing between them. In this situation there are two different books each of these book talks about one of brains. The names of these books are “The female brain and male brain”. I will get some point form these books and I will show the compar. In male brain when the fetal is male they say “Brain growth and development left unperturbed by the high testosterone that makes a male brain” On the other hand, female in same case they say about them brain is “Brain development: starting 8 weeks after conception.” So, we have different time to development in male and female brain. As you can read above we have differences in many things one of these things is the way we think. Male thinks are different than women. Also female behavior is different than male. As well as the internal composition of woman's body is different from the formations that get to a man's body for example: hormones. I think this is true because the hormones in male are sometime strong then the hormones in women. 3
