Matters Arising and Outstanding Actions from the Last Meeting
Actions from the last meeting are as follows;

 NKPCC 16/17-51.2 DH, talked about his recent appointment with the General
Practice (GP); Community Psychiatric Nurse working out of the GP surgery and
provided by them gave him a strip of paper with numbers to contact in case of crisis;
he has raised it to the Mental Health Action Group (MHAG); ND asked for feedback
at the next meeting; DH not present ACTION to follow it up
 NKPCC 16/17-55.5 Swale User Representation Forum - DH, talked about the
effectiveness of this group, idea about setting up goals and timescales; ND
suggested raising it during the next Trust Wide Patient & Carer Experience Group;

Friends, Family and Carer’s Partnership Charter

The draft document was presented by ND

ND, explained the Triangle of Care process to the group; discussion around
advocacy services in Medway, which are currently under tender; the group to send
any comments on Friends, Family and Carer’s Partnership Charter to KL by 21st April
2017 ACTON ALL

National Patient Survey Results

Presentation given by ND; it was a sample survey sent to 800 selected patients
around April and May last year; 256 surveys received

Discussion:
 CN, the main issue raised by her clients is the difficulty with contacting people
responsible for their care; ND, talked about the Quality Priorities for 2017/2018 which
are around
Care coordination, a standardised Patient Experience Feedback, and Triangle of
Care implementation in the CRSL; ND talked about a new Care Plan ACTION KL to
share this document with the group
 BC commented that the survey could start at the beginning of a patient’s journey –
GP surgery and A&E
 LF, what actions are going to be taken regarding this report? ND; each service line
produces an action plan around the Quality Priorities; these are presented during the
Trust Wide Patient & Carer Experience Group

talked about the Family Inclusion Group run by Nigel Jacobs, Family Inclusion

 36.7% turnover of staff in Medway at the moment; 300 people in secondary care
were transferred to primary care in the last 6 months; what’s happening to the 76
people for the Out of area beds?; only 4 Primary Mental Health Workers in west
Kent; the Street Triage is operating from 1st March in Medway
 Discussion around existing services; people do not necessarily have info on how to
access these
 20 beds for the Eating Disorder Services in east Kent; where? ACTION: to send this
question to Dr Catherine Kinane, executive team representative for the next meeting

CN, Pohwer – their contract has been extended; her colleague is setting up a
teaching programme for self-advocacy, first workshop is this Thursday at the Job
Centre in Chatham ACTION CN: to share info about the workshops with the group

HH – a new KMPT’s Research Centre at Beech House, Hermitage Lane, Maidstone
ME16 9PH; the group is invited for the open day on 30 March at any time between
11am and 3pm

LF, tender for Emotional Health & Wellbeing Services in process; services for
children will be extended to 25 years old, as they need to have a longer transition
period; feedback received that on-line services would be most popular among this
age group ; the mobilisation period from the September this year.

ND updated the group on current initiatives:
 Co-production network meeting will be held on Wednesday, 22nd March 2017 from
1.30pm to 4pm at Chapel, St Martin’s Hospital, Littlebourne Road, Canterbury CT1
1TD. During this meeting the group will have presentations on recent co-production
activities in the Trust, including inpatient ward re-design & Inpatient therapeutic group
programme re-design. Everyone is welcome
 Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Training for Carers on Friday 12 May
2017 from 10am to 1pm at Lecture Theatre, Medical Education Centre, St Martin’s
Hospital, Littlebourne Road, Canterbury, Kent CT1 1AZ. This training is aimed at
carers who have an interest in the subject or who care for vulnerable adults. Carers
are welcome
 2017 KMPT Awards – Categories: Achievement in Learning and Development,
Achievement in Research, Best Team Improvement, High Performance, Leadership,
Learning from Listening, Outstanding Support Service, Partnership, Patient Safety,
Quality and Patient Experience, Unsung Hero, Volunteer of the Year; paper
nomination forms were distributed
