Chapter 1: About this instruction
1.1 Purpose of this manual
This instruction will help you -step by step- in setting up a connection between your OTYS
account and your IPhone.
Via this technology you can synchronise e-mails between your account in OTYS and your
IPhone, but also view a web version of your personal OTYS account.
This technology is continuously under construction and is always subject to
changes in the IPhone software. Due to our dependence on the type of IPhone
and the software version installed, we cannot give any guarantees or support
on this feature during installation or use.
1.3 IPhone version
This manual is based on an IPhone with iOS 4.2.1. If you have a different software version this
manual can differ from your IPhone.

Chapter 2: Web version OTYS on an iPhone
OTYS created a special web version, which is intended for an IPhone. In this chapter we will
explain how to open this web version on your IPhone and create a menu icon on your IPhone
for it.
1) Open Safari on your IPhone, the web browser.
2) Type the following address in your Safari-browser
http://iPhone.otys.nl and than click on ‘’Go’’ at the right
hand bottom part of the screen.
3) De web based iPhone-version will open within a few
seconds. Now you can login with your personal OTYS
username and password, to gain access to your e-mail,
calendar, companies, candidates and jobs.
4) At the bottom part of the screen is an icon with an arrow,
which enables you to save this webpage on your IPhone
Home menu.

5) After clicking the icon with the arrow you can choose the
options as shown in the image, choose the option ’’Add to
Home screen’’.
6) Finally you can choose a label / name for the icon on your
Home screen, for example ‘OTYS’. Than click on ‘’Add’’.
7) On your Home screen you will now see a new icon for the
web version of OTYS. If you would like to change the
location of the icon, you can click on it and hold for a few
seconds, until all icons start to move. You can now drag
and drop it to the location you prefer.

Chapter 3: Prepare OTYS for e-mail synchronization
1) First you need to activate a few settings in your
OTYS account. To do so, open your OTYS Today.
2) Open your OTYS Today settings (see icon in
image on the left).
3) Then click on the ‘’Mobile sync’’ button in the
OTYS Today settings.
4) If there is no password or
username yet, click on the button
‘’Generate username and
password’’. Within a few seconds
you will see a username and
password being generated. If they
are already present, go to step 5.
5) Click on the button ‘’Activate direct
e-mail Synchronization’’.
6) Than click on the button ‘’Activate

7) Finally close the screen and open it
again by clicking on the
‘’Synchronization’’ button in the
OTYS Today settings screen.
You will now see a screen as
shown in the image left.
At the top of the screen you will
see your personal username and
password for e-mail
synchronization. You will need
these at a later stadium in his
manual.

Chapter 4: Configure e-mail on your iPhone
Via this manual you can configure your e-mail, so that you receive copies of each message
from your OTYS inbox on your iPhone e-mail client. Also sent items from your iPhone will be
shown in the sent items of your OTYS e-mail account (and therefore also in the file of the
involved entity).
1) First step is taking your iPhone and opening the
‘’settings’’.
2) In the settings you choose the option ‘’Mail, Contacts,
Calenders’’.
3) The next screen you choose for ‘’Add Account‘’

4) Choose the option ‘’Other’’
5) Than choose ’’Add mail account’’.
6) This is where you can add the basic details of your
account:
Name: Fill in the name that the recievers of your emails should see whenever they receive an e-mail
from you. For example: Liselore Aardema | OTYS.
Address: Fill in your (main)e-mail address.
Password: Fill in the password from your Mobile
synchronization (see Chapter 3).
Description:Fill in the name of the description of
the mail account, for example ‘OTYS e-mail’
After you are done, click on the button ‘’Next’’ on the upper right hand side of the screen.

7) In the screen that is shown after the previous step, you
can configurate the advanced settings of the account:
First choose ‘’POP’’ and go to the ‘’Incoming mail
server’’ options:
Hostname: Fill in: mail.otys.nl.
Username: Fill in ‘fun_’, followed by your
username from Mobile synchronization (see
previous chapter).
For example: if your username was ‘jan.janssen’
fill in ‘ fun_jan.janssen’.
Password: There is nothing you need to change,
you can leave it like it is.
8) Than scroll to ‘’Outgoing Mail server’’ and fill these details
in:
Hostname: Fill in ‘fun-mail.otys.nl’.
Username: Fill in ‘fun_’, followed by your
username from Mobile synchronization, followed
by ‘@local.mbx’.
For example, if your username for Mobile
synchronization is ‘jan.janssen’, your Username
here will be: ‘[email protected]’ in.
Password: Fill in the password from the Mobile
synchronization.
Click on ‘’Save’’ at the top of the screen.
9) It will take a few minutes before you can finalize the setup. There will be 2 messages shown during this procces,
and both messages can be answered with ‘Yes‘’.
10) As soon as this process is finished you will get another
notification, about the SMTP server. This is due to the fact
you need to do 1 more additional setting, so you can click
on OK.

11) After clicking OK in step 10, you will be back at the screen
before that. Again you can click on ‘’Save’’ at the upper
right side of the screen.
Another message is than shown, since not all steps of the
configuration are finished yet. You can click on ‘’Save’’ at
the bottom of the screen, as shown on the image left.
12) You are now back in the overview of your e-mail accounts
on your iPhone. Click on the OTYS account to finish the
set-up.
13) Scroll to ‘’Outgoing Mail Server’’ and click on
‘’SMTP server’’.

14) Click on the OTYS SMTP server (fun-mail.otys.nl).
15) Go to the ‘’Serverport’’ and adjust it to ‘2525’ and click on
‘’Done’’ at the upper right side of the screen.
Your OTYS e-mail is now configured on your iPhone.
You can now open the e-mail application of your iPhone (email icon in the Home screen) to receive your e-mail for
the first time. Please note that only e-mails received after
the synchronization is set-up will be received on the
iPhone, not the e-mails sent before that.
Please note: if you read an e-mail and/or delete it from your iPhone, this email will still be in your OTYS e-mail, shown as unread.
