Interpreting Your College Readiness Benchmark Data - Examine your school’s ACT College Readiness results and analyze your student Remediation Rates as generated by the Ohio Board of Regents. Your ACT Results: A Comparison of Local vs. State Results - Review your trend data as it relates to career choices, student expectations, high demand careers, plus other relevant ACT topics. Teacher PLCs – The Answer Really IS in the Room – (1-2 hrs.) - Make teacher meetings more meaningful with guided “protocols” that facilitate and encourage peer sharing of knowledge. Learning from Student Work – Use agreed upon guidelines for in-depth, insightful conversations about teaching and learning, participants will examine student work for understanding and thought processes. Guided peer discussions will help educators determine possible adjustments in instruction to improve student performance. Ohio’s K-12 Career Connections Initiative - (45 min –1 hr.) How can you better utilize all the career information available to you on the OhioMeansJobsK-12 website? Receive step-bystep instruction on how to embed the K-12 Connections framework and resources into your curriculum to help create a career-focused classroom. Parental Involvement: Reaching the Hardest-toInvolve Parents- (1-2 hrs.) – Implement strategies for removing barriers and developing partnerships with parents. Exploring STEM Careers for Students in Gr. 7-9 (45 min.) Learn how to organize and implement a successful STEM Summer Camp that will assist teachers in embedding STEM concepts into their teaching and provide hands-on activities for youth of all ability levels. Enhance your classroom instruction with these ready-to-use graphic organizers that can be used in all middle and high school classrooms and all content areas. Developing Course Syllabi: Establishing Accountability for Both Teachers and Students – (1 hr.) Create an effective and informative course syllabus that will help students become more aware of the teachers’ expectations for success in class.
