From 11am, queues of people start clamouring for the fresh, authentic Vietnamese food like banh mi ($8) or noodle soups (from $13). 40 Milligan Street Perth, 6000 WA 08 9481 6688 Pleased To Meet You Northbridge Self-proclaimed ‘indoor food truck’, Pleased To Meet You, doles out inventive South American fare at decent prices, and if you order carefully you'll end up full without breaking the bank. Try the divine watermelon salad, bursting with goat’s curd and mint, which for $9 is a hefty portion, and the ice cream nachos – every bit as awesome as they sound – for $6. 38 Roe Street Northbridge, 6003 WA Taka’s Northbridge and CBD It’s telling that Perth restaurant, Taka’s always has the longest lines at their respective food courts: it’s hard to tire of their dense udon noodles or delicate teriyaki chicken. Tempting though it may be, don’t let your inner stinge go wild – run by volunteers, the place is struggling after the recent Elizabeth Quay building works. Jetty 4 Riverside Drive Perth, 6000 WA 08 9221 3003 Tra Vinh Northbridge The combination beef pho at Tra Vinh is arguably Perth’s best - a steaming aromatic broth filled with tender raw beef balls and fresh bean sprouts and mint. Not bad for $11.50. 149 Brisbane Street Highgate, 6003 WA 08 9228 2788 Viet Hoa Northbridge The large bare-bones Perth restaurant is nearly always chockers for its delicious housemade noodles and roasted pork – plus Viet Hoa is BYO without corkage. Hurrah!
