OCEAN PARK ASSOCIATION TENNIS RULES 2017
ROUND ROBIN
All Round-robin sign ups (see process below) are done prior to play at 7:45 am and 10:00 am.
Men’s round-robin/mixed up doubles early start is at 8:00 am on Monday, Wednesday, and
Friday. Women’s round-robin/mixed doubles early start is at 8:00 am on Tuesday, Thursday, and
Saturday. Late start is at 10:15 am. Limit 16 players per men’s round-robin/mixed doubles
session and 16 players for women/mixed session. Whenever there are less than 16 men or
women at the 7:45 am or 10:00 am drawing, both women and men will be welcomed into the
drawing of random numbers 1-16. Hence mixed-up doubles.
Two courts will be set aside for Mixed Doubles Mixers on Sunday from 1:00-3:00 pm, registration
is required to be in by 1:00 pm on Friday, after which these courts will be used for open court
time.
Tennis court rentals, lessons, and group clinics are available from 12:30 pm until closing,
Monday through Saturday, and Sunday 1:00-3:00 pm.
Round-robin is very popular; round-robin sign up works this way:
• You are encouraged to be at the courts on the morning you want to participate at 7:45 am
and 10:00 am to get into the draw. At those times, the pro will place numbers in a hat and
players will draw for the first 24 positions.
• Players 1 through 12 will play in the first round; players 13 through 16 will play with players
1 through 8 in the second round, while players 9 through 12 sit out; then players 5 through
8 sit out in the third round. Players 1 through 4 will be scheduled to finish play after the
third, unless they are needed as a fill-in for someone leaving early
• In the event more than 16 players are present for the drawings at 7:45 am and 10:00 am
men’s round-robin/mixed, only men will be placed in the draw. Conversely at the
women’s round—robin/mixed, only women will be placed in the draw. On those days
where 17 to 24 players arrive for the 7:45 am drawing, the appropriate number of SORRY
chips will be placed in the drawing. The Pro will encourage those players who draw the
sorry card to participate in the 10:00 am drawing. For the players who draw a sorry card
in the 10:00 am session, they will be encouraged to use open afternoon court time.
• Players who are not present for the drawing will check in with the pro for a
playing
assignment. All players must be present when the pro does the next round match up.
These are done ten minutes prior to the next round going out.
• If players have time preferences they may trade positions—just let the proknow before
match ups are completed at 8:00 am and 10 am.
