Community Fund Grant
Received for 2015-17!
We are proud and pleased
to announce a grant
recently received from the
Community Fund of the
Community Foundation for
South Central New York, in
the amount of $15,000, to
be used over a period of
two years. These funds
are allocated to support the
K-5 P.L.A.Y. afterschool
and summer recreation
programs.
It is due to
generous
donors
and
foundation grants such as
this that the Community
Center is able to maintain
high
quality
youth
programming at a fraction
of the cost of comparable
afterschool
childcare,
expanding our ability to
offer enrichment activities,
while remaining financially
accessible to local families.
Thank
you
to
the
Community Foundation for
continuing to support the
work we do!
The
Richfield
Springs
Community Center Board
of Directors also wishes to
thank all the supporters of
our Center who help to
further our mission to
“Care for the Community.”
The Community Center
provides our NY State
Licensed P.L.A.Y. (After
School Program), the
Zone Program for teens,
and various community
oriented opportunities. All
of this is accomplished
through
the
efforts
provided by volunteers,
and the funding provided
by individual donations,
fund-raising events, and
grants that our Program
Director manages.
We would like to express
our
appreciation
to
everyone who is and has
been involved in the
various “life lines” that allow
the Community Center to
exist. First, we are grateful
for all the volunteers who
help support our programs
and fund raising efforts.
Your time and efforts are
invaluable. Next, we wish
to acknowledge the donors
to
the
Zone
Club
Membership
that
was
recently launched and hope
that others will consider
supporting
the
Center
through this campaign.

PLAY Program Highlights
This year our P.L.A.Y. Program,
(Positive Lifestyle Activities for Youth,)
has had many enjoyable moments and
the kids have had opportunities to
create beautiful artwork, write their
own puppet shows, perform original
songs for the group, and learn to cook
healthy new snack options. We have
gone bowling at Richfield Lanes,
participated in weekly book buddies to
hone our reading skills, and learned
many
new
teambuilding
and
communication games that incorporate
positive social skills and physical
activity.
Next year, we will be
expanding this program to accomo-

Lastly, we wish to
recognize the following
organizations that have
awarded us additional
grants within the past
year. The Otsego County
Youth
Bureau
has
allocated $5,500, the
United Way of Delaware
and Otsego Counties
has awarded $4,060 to
the
Paving ou
date 6th graders, and our summer
P.L.A.Y. planning is in the works. Many
thanks to those who sponsor and support
this wonderful youth program!
The Teen Zone for staffing
and workshop presenters,
and the Anna Mabey
Foundation has given us
$2,000
towards
youth
program
supplies
and
activity costs. Additionally,
we received $2,000 from
this
year’s
Stewart’s
Holiday Match Campaign,
$1,500 from the New York
Council of Non Profits for
Board
and
Fund
Development Assistance,
and the Richfield Springs
chapter
of
Rotary
International
donated
$2,497
towards
the
purchase of educational
games and learning toys
for our younger program
participants.
What
a
positive force the above
creates! We are happy that
we can work together to
make our community a
better place in which to
live. Thank You!
