Practice
Athletes will be at practice on time! Practice is
scheduled on a daily basis from Monday thru Friday from
3:00PM – 5:00PM (Subject to change). Practice days and
time can vary through the holidays and weekends. On time
is defined as 100% dressed the minute practice is scheduled
to start. Players are expected to attend all practices and
matches during the whole season.
Students will be notified ahead of time of any
schedule changes, but it’s the players responsibility to
confirm any changes on “Non-School Days”.
Any occasion that a player is not ready at the start
of practice will be considered an unexcused tardy. Every
tardy will result in 4 laps at the end of practice.
SOMETIMES outside events are unavoidable and
because of this I do allow players to “make-up” the time
they are tardy. The type of work or make-up process could
extend from a written paper to some other form of
exercise/drill. Each situation will be viewed and considered
based on a number of factors such as grades, number of
past tardies, participation efforts etc. Make-up work must
fall outside of the normal scheduled time.
We typically end our practices after 2 to 2 ½ hours
from the start of practice. Occasionally, we will have
extended practices that are totally voluntary. This is a time
for more specific work or scrimmages. We allow the player
to choose whether or not he participates. These extended
practices are meant for the students who are doing well
academically, and will not have a designated “end time.”
Practice shirts must be worn at every practice and
before each game. We need to make sure we properly
represent ECHS Soccer and not ANY other team or
program. This will become a requirement once notice is
sent out to all players. Pride in our program is a key
component to its success.

Injuries and Prevention
Athletes who must go see the trainer are required to
do this before practice is to start. Coaches and the trainer
need to be made aware of any injuries, medical conditions,
or doctor’s notes. Athletes will not be excused from
participating in practice without a note from the trainer or a
doctor.
Athletes will come dressed appropriately for
practices and games. Athletes must wear shin guards at
ALL times. Athletes must also bring cleats and running
shoes to every practice.
Athletes are not allowed to practice or compete with
any jewelry, earrings, necklace or watch.
Athletes are responsible to have transportation
planned each day from practice location MLK or ECHS
parking lot to home.
Athletes must travel on the bus to and from all
games. If extenuating circumstances force you to have to
ride with a parent home from a game, the parent must sign
out their own child to clear ECHS from all liability. Note
that freshman games start and end before Varsity games
start requiring that we stay to watch them play. Please dress
warm! This is a winter sport and many of the games you
will be cold without a jacket or sweater.
Personal & School Property
Athletes are responsible for all personal items they
bring with them to practice or games.
All equipment issued to an athlete is the athlete’s
responsibility and must be returned in proper condition.
Athletes are responsible for reimbursing the
program for damage to or loss of uniforms or equipment.
Failing to do so will result in a bill being issued to the
student, which must be paid before the student can register
for classes for the next semester.

Eligibility
Every athlete must maintain a 2.0 grade
point average and have ZERO unsatisfactory
citizenship grades to remain eligible. Along with these
restrictions each player can not have more than 1 F.
I will require grade checks periodically, but it is up
to the student to keep track of his or her progress.
Practice will usually be complete by 8:00 (but may
vary), this should give them plenty of time for homework.
Missing practice in order to complete homework is not
considered an excused absence, of course some exception
can be made.
Coaches must be notified 24 hours prior the start of
that practice if an athlete will be attending after school
tutoring. A successful team member must make the
commitment to manage his time between school, personal
commitments and soccer.
Communication between athletes and coaches is a
must. Athletes need to make sure coaches are notified in
advance of any unusual circumstances that may affect an
athlete’s participation in practices or games.
Lettering Policy
Athlete must finish the season in good standing
with the team which is listed below:
Athlete must have displayed good sportsmanship
and been a quality team member during the season.
Athlete must have an excellent attendance record at
practice and game sessions.
Athlete must be in academic eligible status at the
end of the season.

Spirit Pack
The spirit pack for 2016-2017 will be $25.00. This
is a cost to help cover equipment for the teams use and 1
practice shirt. This is separate than the online order page.
Varsity will also be purchasing a White Game shirt for
them to keep in addition to anything else they order. The
items available will be White and yellow practice shirts,
Long sleeve practice shirt. Black hoodie, Black Nike Jacket
with Wildcat logo. The $25.00 will be paid directly to the
coaches. Again this is independent of the online shop to
purchase additional gear.
Uniform
When a school property uniform is used they
players must return them at the end of the season in well
maintained condition. This means they are not the
possession of the players and are considered “on loan”
Every player must maintain the uniform when kept in their
possession. No student is allowed to put anything on the
uniform. Shorts and Sock are not provided so it is up to
each player to have a pair of white shorts and 2 pairs of
socks one White and one Yellow. The shorts must be all
white and yellow/brown with no additional strips or colors.
A small logo is acceptable in some cases.
Thanksgiving Break/Christmas Break
Due to the timing of our sport, we find it necessary
to practice over Thanksgiving and Christmas break. We
will not have practice on holidays, however each program
will have mandatory practices during the break. The
practice schedule will be handed out by the athletes
particular head coach.

Transportation Fee
A $100 transportation fee is needed to cover the
cost for our away games. If enough money is not collected
via this transportation donation, busses will not be available
for all away games. Each athlete’s parent(s) would then
have to drive their child to each away game or away games
would be forfeited. This donation counts for the whole
year so if your son plans or has played in another sport and
you have paid the transportation fee then you are clear for
this 2016-2017 year. Make checks payable to ECHS ASB.
All payments made at the ASB office directly! Don’t not
bring any payments to your coaches they will not take
them!
Attitude
All players are required to give 100 percent effort
during every practice and every game. We pride our
program on hard work, and if a player is not prepared to
give every effort to succeed, the player will not play. If a
player is disrespectful to a coach, player, referee, parent or
spectator the player will become eligible for removal from
the team.
Other Teams and Sports
Playing Club soccer, recreation, indoor, men’s
leagues or any other soccer leagues while the high school
season is going on is 100 % prohibited by CIF. If a player
is caught, the team will forfeit every game the player
participated in outside of high school. Any player caught
playing on two soccer teams will be cut from the team no
exceptions.
As a staff, we do not condone any athletes
competing in more than one sport at a time. But, we cannot
dictate what you do or do not do on your spare time. If you
choose to participate in another sport outside of school, that
is your decision. Understand, though, that you cannot
expect to see the improvements in your performances that
one would normally see during the course of the season. In
order to improve physically, you must provide your body
the necessary recovery and recuperation period. Doing
more than one sport may take away your body’s ability to
properly recover after a hard workout or competition.
Wildcat Boys Soccer Agreement
If you do choose to participate in other activities,
please understand that you must be at all practices and be
available for all competitions in order to remain on the
team. As soon as your outside interests begin to conflict
with the expectations of the soccer program, you will have
to make a decision as to which activity you will stay with,
or the coaching staff will have to make that decision for
you.
Spectators
CIF rules require that parents be at least 10 yards
from the field of play. In addition, if there are stands, the
parents are required to sit or watch from the
stands/bleachers, otherwise the official may forfeit our
game.
If someone is on the sideline during a game that is
not on the roster, a school administrator or an athletic
trainer this can result in the forfeit of our game.
Referees are not there to make us lose. They are
there to do their job of enforcing the laws of the game.
Referees error at all levels. We see them make mistakes in
real-time in the pros and they have 6 referees. We only
have 2. Please refrain from using unsporting behavior. If a
parent continues to use profanity and I am forced to escort
you from the stadium that parent will no longer be allowed
back to watch any more games.
Encourage don’t coach! The boys work day in and
day out with myself and my coach(es). The worst thing you
can do is instruct them especially if it goes against what
I’m asking them to do. Many players will always choose to
listen to their parents over their coach and because of this I
ask you please don’t coach from the stands. This does not
mean I don’t want to hear your voice; actually it’s the
opposite I want you all to be loud and proud cheer on the
boys to push hard and nice shot etc… Encourage them to
keep working hard.

Parking
Parents and players are to park in the student/parent
parking lot AT ALL TIMES.
Note to parents
The responsibility your child has undertaken by
becoming a student athlete at El Camino High School is
great. We, as coaches, will work as diligently as possible
to help our student athletes manage their time between
school, family, soccer, etc. but, the greatest influence in
helping your child’s success and positive experience this
year will come from you.
We encourage you to be as involved as possible in your
child’s school and extracurricular activities. Add the
school work with the responsibility of participating in a
high school sport, and the vast majority of student athletes
are asking more of themselves than ever before. Thus,
more than ever, your child will require positive
involvement on your part.
Feel free to talk to any members of the Boys Soccer
Staff about the progress of your child. If a parent-coach
conference is necessary, we do ask that schedule an
appointment. It is important to note that the playing
time of your child, or that of other members of the
team, is not negotiable. Furthermore, any inappropriate or
aggressive behavior, or use of profanity during the
conversation will end the parent-coach conference
immediately and your child’s status as a member of the
Wildcat Soccer team will be reconsidered. We cannot, and
will not, guarantee playing time to any player.
All players will get an equal chance in practice to
earn playing time. Playing time will be based on the
staff’s evaluation of each individual athlete.
We urge parents to be involved in all aspects of
your child’s experience here at El Camino High School.
All members of the staff would like your child’s experience
to be as positive as possible.
Character!
Wildcat Boys Soccer Agreement
As a member of the El Camino Wildcat Soccer
Team, you are representing ECHS. Thus, you are expected
to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times, including good
sportsmanship at games. The school guidelines outlined in
your El Camino student handbook will be followed. Any
act that embarrasses the team and our school will be
followed by swift discipline, be it suspension from games
or dismissal from the team.
Any player awarded a RED card from any match
will have to have a site down with the AD before they can
resume play. In addition to sitting the remainder of that
game and all of the required number of games due to the
red card (1-6 Games) you will be running 6 miles per red.
All miles must be completed before you are eligible to play
in your next game. IF any player accumulates 2 red cards
over the season we will have a meeting with the parents
and could result in the removal of that player from the
team.
Finally, profanity will not be permitted. We as
growing adults tend to use language that is not appropriate
especially in the heat of “moment”. The more effort you
put in to not using that language on a daily basis will help
from the occasional “slip up” We will not tolerate poor
sportsmanship in our program whether it be at practice,
game or even while the students are in school. First offense
will result in a verbal warning. Second offense will result in
laps, third will result a note home with the player having to
meet with the AD to discuss future involvement with the
team.

Attendance
Every Late, Excused and Unexcused Absence hurts a
players playing time.
In addition all of these must be completed before or after
practice on a pre-arranged day with Coach
Try your best to avoid these:
 Advising me you are hurt and not visiting the
trainer or a Dr.
 No Notification
 Any Text less than 2 hours prior that you are sick
and can’t make it. (SOME EXCEPTIONS)
 Missing for Work
 Staying home to Study without prior notice
o I do want you to keep your grades up, but
keep in mind everyone on the team has test
and homework to complete.
 Any others not listed as excused below. A “no
show” is a “no show”.
Every Excused Absence will have no consequence for
running, but you’re playing time will be affected.
Only Items that count from Excused Absence:
 Sick with Parent Note or email at least 2 hours prior
to start of practice.
 Injury in Game or Practice for ECHS Soccer (must
confirm with coach directly not through text)
 Homework/Test Prep with 24 hours prior notice via
EMAIL or Text.
 Red Slip from Trainer
Running is the way all punishments will be enforced the number of late
days, missed days will vary based on players situation and responsibility
of notification, but keep in mind attendance is tracked.
Attendance will begin 12/2/16
