Company Overview: For over 40 years, The Pacific Institute, (TPI) has been working with clients as a performance improvement consultancy on issues of behaviour change, leadership, team and organisational performance. The Pacific Institute has become a global leader in developing positive organisational cultures and results. TPI works in over 50 countries, consulting with clients in businesses, the public sector, health and education systems. Our work is a distillation of best business practices and cognitive psychology. It draws on, and is supported by, some of the world’s leading researchers in the domains of cognitive psychology, neural sciences and culture change processes in organisations. These internationally recognised figures include, in particular, Dr Albert Bandura (Stanford University) and Dr Martin Seligman (University of Pennsylvania). Framework for TPI’s Role The model below positions our approach to organisational improvement. Culture tends to act as an obstructionist to organisational effectiveness. That same culture is primarily determined by the levels of leadership effectiveness and personal effectiveness, which our processes specifically target. Personal Effectiveness Organisational Culture Organisational Effectiveness Leadership Effectiveness Some of our Products and Processes Organisational Culture Inventory This is a world-class product for measuring values and beliefs prevalent in the organisational ‘culture’. This measures the Current Culture of the organisation and the shared Vision Culture. It articulates these dimensions across 12 parameters of organisational culture. Again they are benchmarked against 700 organisations world-wide. It is a sampled survey process. It provides all members of the entity with a clear picture of their current culture and of where they would like to be. Organisational culture has a direct impact on organisational performance and effectiveness. The OCI can be repeated at a later stage to determine ‘distance travelled’ towards the Vision Culture. Investment in Excellence (IIE) The IIE programme unpacks the culture measurement data and gives participants (leaders, managers and staff) a set of thinking skills to challenge their perceptions of themselves, their colleagues, and the organisation. It also enables them to identify and tackle barriers to their own success, and significantly improve their effectiveness as individuals and as team members maximising their potential and enhancing results. The collective new thinking skills acquired enables the organisation to move towards its vision culture rapidly. Leadership Impact Analysis (LIA) Once key leaders have undergone IIE, this is used it to provide coaching and feedback to that group. It defines leadership in terms of the overall impact or effect that a leader has on the organisation and on its members. The LIA supports leaders to increase or decrease specific behaviours to positively impact the desired culture. They will be given the tools during Investment in Excellence to assist them with the behaviour changes they identify. Each person receives a comprehensive individual report that is fed back to each leader in a confidential coaching session comparing the current impact they have on people to the ideal impact they envision. The Pacific Institute coach then works with the leader in further sessions to develop the changed behaviours and new strategies identified. Organisational Alignment – Blueprint Our organisation alignment tool ‘blueprint’ is a process for teams and provides the vehicle for breaking down communication silos and ensuring excellent stakeholder relationships where people know what is required of them and what they are working towards. This process embeds and applies Investment in Excellence (IIE) concepts within teams. It results in a ‘blueprint’ team plan that evolves and provides a framework for alignment within and between teams.
