 If you are a corporation and you are carrying on business (identifying
yourself to the public) in a name that is different than your full
corporation name, then you must have that name registered. When
you register that name, you will receive a Master Business Licence,
from Service Ontario.
 Example 1: Corporation Name: John Doe Inc.
Business Name: John’s Videos
 Example 2: Corporation Name: Videos and Games Corp.
Business Name: Videos and Games
 Example 3: Corporation Name: 555555 Ontario Inc.
Business Name: Jane Doe’s Convenience
 You need to register your full business name if you are a Sole
Proprietorship carrying on business under a name other than
your full name or a Partnership carrying on business under a
name other than the full names of the partners.
 When you register that name, you will receive a Master
Business Licence, from Service Ontario.
