For a comprehensive evaluation of your health, Inner Imaging can provide you with important information about the condition of your heart and lungs, as well as other vital internal organs of the abdomen and pelvis. This thorough imaging test can reveal even minor problems that often cannot be detected by physical examination, EKG, or even a stress test. The Patented Electron Beam Tomography (EBT) Scanner can reveal the presence of coronary artery disease by detecting calcified plaque or atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), a key factor in determining your risk of a future heart attack long before any symptoms can occur. This test, which is 10 times more sensitive than a traditional chest X-ray, is also able to detect early stage lung disease when it is curable and can show lung tumors as small as 1mm. It can also detect early stages of emphysema, damage from work related asbestosis exposure, pneumonia, and other infectious and inflammatory conditions. Inner Imaging utilizes patented Electron Beam Tomography (EBT) technology and requires 10 times less radiation than conventional diagnostic CAT scans. This fast and painless test takes only seconds and you can remain fully clothed. Listed below are some of the conditions that we look for however, it does not replace mammography, colonoscopy, a gynecological or a digital prostate exam. We along with many other first responders have spent countless hours with the cleanup and investigation of this horrific event. While we debate the responsibility of who should be responsible for your health, after having been exposed to the toxic dust plumes, for many of us the debate may be too late. The Board of Officers at the UFA believe that a more proactive initiative would help our retirees in identifying the early stages of many of these diseases. The goal is to address these issues long before they become problems and there are more victims. To that end we negotiated a health screening exam for all of our members at a substantial discounted rate. An arrangement has been made with Inner Imaging, P.C. an affiliate of the Heart Institute at Beth Israel Medical Center. In this arrangement your out-of-pocket cost for this screening test will be $375.00. (the regular cost of these tests can range between $850 and $1,000). The screening includes: • The Heart • The Lungs • The Abdomen and Pelvic region Your test results are completely confidential. Coronary Artery Disease Facts: This disease is the number one killer of firemen. More than 1.5 million people suffer heart attacks, over 30% fatally, every year as a result of coronary artery disease. 68% of these sudden heart attacks are in arteries that are less than 50% blocked and can not be detected with traditional stress testing. Traditional risk factor analysis by most doctors only account for 50% of heart attacks. The EBT heart scan can identify coronary artery disease as much as two decades before symptoms occur with an accuracy of 98-99%. Lung Cancer Facts: Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. Members of the fire service are 2.5 more likely to develop lung issues than the general population. Electron Beam Tomography (EBT) Low-Dose Lung scanning is 10 times more sensitive than a regular chest X-ray, and can detect the early development of lung diseases. The current survival rate of lung cancer is 12-15%. Early detection of lung cancer with EBT scanning can potentially change the survival rate to greater than 88%. Radiation? The dosage for the EBT Heart Scan is 0.5 millisieverts. This is equal to 2 months of radiation from the sun or 5 chest X-Rays or 8 round trip flights to CA. EBT’s radiation is 8 to 20 times LESS than conventional Cat Scan (64 Slice). The purpose of making this Screening program available, is help you remain healthy. If on the other hand, you are a victim of 9/11 or early stage disease we want to help you identify the disease early before it becomes disabling.
