New Mexico Public Education Department‐‐Advancement Process for NMTEACH (Year One) Level II to Level III (3 years at Level II plus a Master’s Degree required) Rating Ineffective Minimally Effective No Dossier Required ($95.00) Dossier Required ($320.00) May NOT advance this year; District/Principal requests a two (2) year extension (use Superintendent’s Recommendation Form for Advancing Licensure), if license expires in 2015; AND The following conditions must be met: Overall NMPED Summative Evaluation rating must improve one level in 2015-2016 Teacher must submit and pass a Professional Development Dossier (PDD) by the end of 2016-2017 ($320.00 fee) May advance this year if, The teacher has accumulated at least 50% of VAS (individual) points in 2013‐2014; AND District/Principal submits verification form (Use Superintendent’s Recommendation Form for Advancing Licensure) to the Professional Licensure Bureau (PLB); AND The teacher must submit and pass a Professional Development Dossier (PDD) in 2014-2015 - ($320.00 fee) May Renew this year if, • The teacher has accumulated at least 50% of VAS (individual) points in 2013-2014; AND • District/Principal submits verification form (Use Superintendent’s Recommendation Form for Advancing Licensure) to the Professional Licensure Bureau (PLB); AND • Teacher submits the NMPED application for renewal • Teacher submits typical $95.00 fee May NOT advance or renew this year if, The teacher has accumulated less than 50% of VAS (individual) points in 2013‐2014; THEN District/Principal requests a two (2) year extension (use Superintendent’s Recommendation Form for Advancing Licensure); AND The following conditions must be met: Overall NMPED Summative Evaluation rating must improve one level by 2015-2016 Teacher must submit and pass a Professional Development Dossier (PDD) by the end of 2016-2017 ($320.00 fee) Teacher may renew license prior to 2016-2017 if above NMPED requirements met Effective May advance this year if, VAS is at least 50% may bypass PDD if, District/Principal submits verification form (Use Superintendent’s Recommendation Form for Advancing Licensure without the Professional Development Dossier (PDD)) to the Professional Licensure Bureau (PLB) Teacher submits the NMPED application for renewal Teacher submits typical $95.00 fee Highly Effective May advance this year if, or If VAS is at least 50% may bypass PDD if: Exemplary • District/Principal submits verification form (Use Superintendent’s • • Recommendation Form for Advancing Licensure without the Professional Development Dossier (PDD)) Teacher submits the NMPED application for renewal Teacher submits typical $95.00 fee VAS is less than 50% or teachers w/o 2013‐2014 VAS, then, Teacher must submit and pass a Professional Development Dossier (PDD) ($320.00 fee) If VAS is less than 50% or teachers w/o 2013‐2014 VAS, then, • Teacher must submit and pass a Professional Development Dossier (PDD) ($320.00 fee) The flexibility provided to effective, highly effective and exemplary teachers is available to all teachers that meet the criteria addressed regardless of licensure expiration. Teachers advancing from each level must still meet the requirement of three successful years at their existing licensure level.
