Notice of Mandatory Inspection Trip DOCUMENT 00003 NOTICE OF MANDATORY INSPECTION TRIP COPPER COMMUNICATIONS CABLE AND VOICE AND DATA EQUIPMENT – MONITORING, TESTING, AND REPAIR CALIFORNIA AQUEDUCT STATE WATER FACILITIES DELTA, SAN LUIS, SAN JOAQUIN AND SOUTHERN FIELD DIVISIONS CONTRA COSTA, ALAMEDA, SAN JOAQUIN, MERCED, FRESNO, KINGS, KERN, LOS ANGELES, AND SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES CALIFORNIA SPECIFICATION NO. 09-02 CONTRACT NO. C51387 A mandatory inspection trip for prospective bidders will be conducted at the work site. The inspection trip is mandatory for all bidders. Interested parties are requested to schedule their time to make the trip on the same day. Bidders will be required to sign-in to indicate their attendance at the site inspection. Bids will not be accepted from those parties who do not sign-in and attend the site inspection. Interested parties are requested to meet on TUESDAY, APRIL 21, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. The inspection trip will start at Oso Pumping Plant where interested parties will meet and travel to some of the various Southern California Aqueduct copper communications cable testing tap locations and inspect structures with the cable pressure system and communications systems to be monitored, tested, repaired and maintained as part of the contract. The inspection trip is expected to take about 6 to 8 hours. The meeting will start at the Oso Pumping Plant located in Los Angeles County. Travel to the intersection of Interstate Highway I-5 and State Highway 138. Then, travel east along State Highway 138 approximately 9 miles to the Alamo Powerplant Access Road (300th Street W.). Follow 300th Street W. north, then turn west onto Oso Pump Plant Road. Follow the road to the Oso Pumping Plant. A short meeting will be held in the plant; meeting participants will then be escorted through California Aqueduct inspection roads to Check Structure 41 and Check Structure 42. From this location participants will then be escorted along State Highway 138 to the Department’s Quail Lake Outlet Structure located at the west end of Quail Lake, approximately 40 miles west of the city of Lancaster. From this location participants will then be escorted north to the Department’s A. D. Edmonston Pumping Plant, located in Kern County, California, approximately 30 miles south of Bakersfield, and 6 miles east of Interstate Highway 5 at the Grapevine Interchange. From this location 00003-1 F-08 Notice of Mandatory Inspection Trip participants will then be escorted along California Aqueduct inspection roads to Check Structure 39. From this location participants will then be escorted along California Aqueduct inspection roads to Check Structure 38. From this location participants will then travel northward along Interstate Highway 5 to a location north of the city of Lost Hills and be escorted along California Aqueduct inspection roads to Check Structure 22. Upon completion of inspection of this site, participants will be escorted from the California Aqueduct access roads to public access roads and site inspection for the day will be complete.
