John Von Neumann Architecture

John Von Neumann
Architecture
The John Von Neumann
Architecture is a computer
architecture created in 1945. It is
used by many computers to date.
It consists of 5 different MAIN
COMPONENTS.
First is the Program Counter which
keeps track of the next instruction
that is needed so it’s ready when
it needs to be. Second is the MAR
(AKA Memory Address Register) –
this stores the address of the next
instruction that the computer
needs.. Third is the MDR (AKA
Memory Data Register) - this holds
the data from the next memory
address. Fourth is the
Accumulator – this is a register for
short-term, intermediate storage
of arithmetic logic data in a CPU.
Finally is the CU (AKA Control Unit)
– this is a component of the CPU
that tells the computer’s memory,
ALU and input and output
devices how to respond to a
program’s instructions.
