The right reaction
to any situation – based on
clear rules and aligned with
the overall control strategy
In the ideal case, the flow of traffic
on the motorway is smooth and constant,
the vehicles travel at an adequate
distance from each other, average speeds
and travel times keep within the normal
range, and there is no risk from rain,
fog or, worst of all, ice.
As this ideal case is extremely rare,
there is the motorway management and
control system Sitraffic® Conduct+. For
any situation, the system generates the
adequate reaction, from speed limits and
overtaking bans to messages warning
the drivers of black ice, fog, aquaplaning
or other hazards. Roadside sensors and
detectors collect the necessary traffic
information and send it automatically to
the system. The strategy module Sitraffic
Cosmos then “tells” Conduct+ what
to do.
Easy online definition
of reaction policies and response plans
Whenever an incident occurs or the
traffic situation becomes potentially
dangerous, a reaction of the system is
required. Sitraffic Cosmos provides the
user with a complete range of tools
for the online definition of an adequate
reaction to any event. These reaction
policies may be global response patterns
valid for all defined detector/actor combinations of the system, for example
the activation of a speed limit on a sign
gantry whenever the corresponding
detector has measured a certain traffic
volume level. Or the user can define
individual reactions applicable only to
a specific situation, for instance sending
a warning to an individual truck driver
whose truck has triggered the overheight
detection system.
Key features of Sitraffic Cosmos:
Sitraffic Cosmos can operate with a
wide range of different types of
policies:
– general policies
(IF x THEN always y)
– time-dependent policies
(e.g. from 6:30 to 9:00 a.m.)
– specific policies
(individual reactions)
– Boolean policies (verification of the
truth-value of data points)
– numerical policies (verification of the
actual value of data points)
– response plans
(complex IF > THEN reaction chains)
Policies related to special areas can be
clustered
Individual policies as well as entire
policy clusters can be set to active or
inactive with a single command
The user can define response plans in
the form of flow charts
Sitraffic Cosmos
helps define the
adequate sign gantry
switching action
to react to any traffic
situation
Policies are configured and modified in
online mode
The automatic generation of automatic
control programs saves time and
money
