Christmas Party Updates
 Food – Donanna reported that the food prices were a little higher than anticipated. Aramark was
able to negotiate with us to get it to a price that we could all work with. She passed out a sheet
detailing what we would be eating for lunch. There were a couple of options on the flavor of pulled
pork to include. It was decide to have the Hoisin pulled pork in addition to the Turkey, mashed
potatoes, dressing, rolls, gravy, green beans almandine, a variety of salads and a variety of pies. It
was decided to offer a variety of salads as the green salad went largely uneaten last year.
 Gift Baskets – Tina reported that the executive committee will oversee the asking for the baskets.
They will be stored at the information desk.
 Contests – Dawn spoke of the two contests we will be holding. The first will be a postcard contest.
We will ask each department to submit a postcard from their office to represent their “Paradise
Vacation” The postcards will be voted on for the best and the winning office. The second contest will
be a Hawaiian shirt contest. We will have several judges who will choose their favorite Hawaiian
shirt. They will distribute leis to the people wearing their favorite shirt. Towards the end of the event
the employees with leis will come up and the crowd will vote by applause for their favorite shirt.
PACE will need to come up with prizes for the contests. It was suggested to do something with
Spam
 Décor – Tamara reported that she spoke to Jasmine about luau type decorations. Jasmine said she
had a ton. Tamara will set up a time for the sub-committee to meet with her and get the decorations
planned out. Dawn said that Kathy Deahl has some weaved baskets that the PACE can use.
 Entertainment – Tamara reported that we will be playing Christmas music during the lunch. There
was discussion of a large number at the end similar to last year’s granny number. She suggested
doing hula dancers mashed with what does the fox say which has a huge following right now. She
showed the committee a music video of the song. She also said that there was an option of having
The Random Acts of Theatre players come and perform a teaser for their upcoming show Spamalot.
The committee decided to have Spamalot as the special entertainment.
Executive Report – Tina and Perri
 Tina reported that there will be perks books this year. However, we will not be handing the perks
books out at the Christmas party. They will be made available for pick-up sometime prior to the
party. Tina informed the reps that the Faculty/Staff Development committee will pay for half of the

Christmas party again this year. Tina also mentioned that the Christmas party will most likely see
some changes in the future because of the expense.
Tina reported that the employee of the year nominations are up and going. She encouraged all
employees to nominate someone they thought was deserving of this award.
Tina spoke about how it is becoming increasingly difficult for employees to get new degrees. She
talked about how the PACE committee is aware of the challenges staff faces in trying to receive
professional development. The executive committee is working on a rank system similar to the
system in place for faculty. This would be for staff members though. Staff members can earn points
based on committee work, classes, and development opportunities. Tina talked about how one of
the main challenges in looking at this is how diverse everyone’s work is. They need to come up with
a system that will work under those circumstances. This will be a system that is set up for
employees to do something for themselves. They need not have their supervisor’s participation to
advance. It will be tied very closely to professional development.
Perri addressed one last component. This year employees will need a ticket to get their lunch at the
Christmas Party. Tickets will be made available at the information desk. Each employee who would
like to attend the lunch will need to get their ticket sometime prior to the luncheon. Then when they
get their lunch they will turn the ticket in for a prize.
Building Happenings
 Fine Arts – Tamara – The Fine Arts is busy with a variety of performances. The Arts on Tour
season has begun and two shows have been done so far. The next show is Tuesday November 19.

new lights and new controls put in the next few weeks. Other than that it is business as usual.

now preparing the 2014 season, which will open on Feb. 4th (for March & April classes). The Twin
Falls location has been closed. We didn’t renew for 2014, as they church needed the parking space
next year (if anyone knows of a large paved parking space, let us know and we’ll scout it to see if it
fits the course needs; we’d love to continue teaching in Twin Falls). We are preparing our annual
Instructor recognition and training sessions on Dec 8th.
 Canyon/Desert – Lauri - Canyon/Desert: The Welding and Woodworking Clubs are gearing up for
their annual auctions coming up soon. The Diesel Club is selling potatoes. The Drafting Club is
