1. Introduction
The Homeopathy. This is a topic that has caused much controversy in the last
years, and so many scientist want to opine on it. Most of conventional medicine
experts, think that this is a waste of time and money, because they say that it has no
scientific basis, and because of that, it does no cure, and the conclusion that most of
them take is that the homeopathy is nothing more than a placebo.
If anyone want to know about this topic, is to easy, in internet there are lots of
articles of different people, of different places, with different studies and different
works, giving their opinion. Investigating throught the internet, one of the most
interesting of the articles is one posted on the 20 minutos newspaper, in which is
written that one of the directives of the homeopathic world's largest company, Borion,
has recognized at a conference in Madrid that they do not know how homeopathic
products work, but that somehow they work. Comparing it with another article that is
on the internet, one posted in El País newspaper, they said that the principles of
homeopathy does not make sense, that “some formulas dilute a drop of an asset in an
equivalent to the water of all the oceans”.
So seen that in the internet it couldn’t be possible take a concrete conclusion if
homeopathy really works or not, it was decided to make an own investigation on the
subject, for after it taking an own conclusions.
2. Hipothesys & Methods
First of all, the documentation and information will be performed doing a
research study of references in order to complete the introduction. Moreover, to
extend the information sources, interviews to three different professionals (a doctor, a
homeopath and a pharmacist) will be arranged. The proposal will be to ask them to
explain in detailed terms the principles of homeopathy and its most common uses to
treat diseases. In particular they will be asked about the chronic asthma, one of the
pathologies where homeopathy is frequently used.
In addition to this, it will be investigate the succusion process, the principle in
which the research is going to focus. An experiment including the dilutions of the
succussion process, which are based in general chemistry, will be also design and
implemented. It is not decided yet, but probably the solvents will be with salt, sugar or
dyes.
Besides, specific homeopathic medicines, including those for chronic asthma,
will be selected with the purpose of analyzing their composition and comparing them
with medicaments recommended by traditional doctors.
To conclude, considering all the aspects appointed, it is expected to be able to
considerate whether the hypothesis is correct or not and to draw a conclusion.
3. Experimentation
3.1 The interviews
In the planning was decided to make an interview with some experts, so was
concretized an appointment the day February 8, 2016 with the Dr. Angulo Gerardo.
The doctor Angulo Gerardo is a homeopathic doctor, who thinks that the homeopathy
works, and in the cases in which he has worked, the homeopathic medicaments have
worked completely well. We learnt that the law of the homeopathy is as simple as “the
similar cures the similar”. Based on this, most of homeopathic medicaments are made
of water diluted and shaked with some an active, and in most of the medicaments,
this is added to sucrose and lactose pellets of these excipients.
Another interview was planed, but because of localization problems, it couldn’t be
possible make a meeting with Yoana Arroyo, so the communication has been via email.
Yoana works in cancer, looking for tumor markers and testing new combinations of
medicaments that may be effective in patients, so she works with chemical products.
She doesn’t know how far it is a practice or use in our society, even if it seems to be
quite common in other countries, but so far it has been shown is ineffective and is no
more effective than a placebo. She believes that science is advancing enough to
explain that cause a disease early can be cured or improved with certain compounds,
and the concentration of administering them is a critical step that determines the
results. She trusts more in scientific investigations and pharmacology.
3.2 The surveys
Apart from this and to carry out our work and have more information, we
decided that it was a good idea to do surveys to people of different ages and jobs. So,
we could know the different opinions that people have about homeopathy: if they
believe is a medicine that cures, if ever used, who believe it is ... In addition, in the
surveys were wondering differences between conventional medicine and alternative
medicine such as:
-Which is older?
-Which is more expensive?
-Which of them cure?
This will help us a lot in our project.

Answering to some questions made in this surveys, the homeopathy consist on
dilutions and mixtures of non-chemical components, and this is one of the most
commons difference between the homeopathy and the conventional medicine, the
homeopathy is totally natural, and the medicine is made by chemical components. The
alternative medicine is oldest than the conventional medicine, this one has been
practiced since 50 years ago, and the homeopathy since 200 years ago. Looking in the
money, the difference is not in the type of medicine you take, if not in the type of
disease you have.
In conclusion, with this we want show that there are different opinions about
homeopathy, between people who tried alternative medicine and says not been
effective and no cure and others who regularly use it and think that is perfect. Also,
this helps us to see what kind of medicine people use and why and the most
important, they think or know about homeopathy. In the questions we can see, that
there are many differences between them, such as in which is more expensive or
which is older. This surveys have helped us a lot. We learned that on the homeopathy
there have been different opinions since a lot of time ago. Many scientists say that this
does not work. However, many people that have used this say that it is very effective
and that is it better that the common medicine.
3.3 The experiment
For making our project more complete it has been also made an experiment, in which
a homeopathic product has been made.
MATERIALS FOR THE EXPERIMENT:
For make this experiment have been used very simple materials, such as: wine, water
and three different containers:
1º STEP OF THE EXPERIMENT:
Dilute a portion of wine in nine portions water, and stir the container ten times. Like
that the energy that wine has, will stay on the water.
2º STEP OF THE EXPERIMENT:
The first step is made so many times, in some cases this step up is made a hundred
times. In our experiment, this step has been made only 3 times, but also with that few
repetitions, it could appreciate that the wine has almost disappeared, but his energy is
still in the water dissolution.
3.4 The mock-up
For finishing the experimental part of this project a mock-up has been made by
cardboards, to saw different diseases and its medications in a more attractive way.

4. Results
As a result of this research, we could say that homeopathy are simple herbs mixed in
big quantities of water, but it is a type of medicine that even without scientific
principles, many people in our society trusts, and in some cases, it works.
