It is an absolute privilege to play on a team and to represent one’s community.
Players will be on time (i.e., arrive at least 10 minutes early for practices and 15 minutes
early for games), dressed and ready when the practice or game begins. Preparation is one
of the keys to success, and players are responsible for their practice jerseys, uniforms, and
equipment.
If a player is going to be late or will miss a game or practice, notice should be given to the
coach as soon as possible, so they can plan accordingly. Missed practices and games can
affect playing time at the coach’s discretion.
Being part of Yorkville athletics means being part of community, district, and school. Any
acts of discipline or misconduct during a school day will affect a player’s eligibility. Any
teacher may report these issues to the Athletic Director with request to hold that player
ineligible for participation.
100% focus and effort at all times is expected, whether a player is in the game or on the
bench. Yorkville soccer players should develop an attitude about practicing as hard as
they play in a game. Try to improve each day and have a positive and ‘never quit’ attitude.
Put the success of team above one’s personal achievements. Strive to take the team to
levels of success never reached before.
Be respectful of all players, coaches, referees and parents at all times (on and off the field).
Do not question or talk back to coaches or referees. Negative comments, behavior or body
language will not be tolerated. Giving encouragement to fellow teammates as well as
demonstrating sportsmanship at all times will go a long way. If everyone commits to this,
our program is successful.
