Chemical Energy
Chemical energy is stored or potential energy waiting to be used.
Examples are:
Food that animals eat is chemical energy in their bodies that gives them
energy to move (kinetic)
Gasoline – in a car is chemical energy that gives the car energy to move.
Batteries - have chemical energy stored in them that makes electricity.
Matches - have chemical energy in them. When you strike the match
you release its energy.
Fossil fuels contain chemical energy. Coal, oil and natural gas. When
they are burned they release energy as thermal energy.
