The picture shows a young girl in a faded black and white image peering
through a window in a slightly run down wall. The girl is dressed in fairly
nice clothing but wears no shoes.
2)This image expresses many strong formal qualities. Which of
the elements and principles of art are most strongly represented
here?
Composition is strongly represented within this photograph due to the
placement of the girl. Her head is place upon on of the horizontal lines of the
rule of third grid and perfectly blocks the viewers sight of the window
enough to not be able to see what she is peering at creating mystery within
the image.
There is a striking contrast between the intense light outside the
building and the total darkness revealed through the window.
What might this contrast represent?
The contrast may the mystery of what the girl is looking at as the bright light
illuminates everything before the window and the darkness engulfs anything
beyond the window enhancing the mystery within the image.
