Thorner Beer Festival 25/4/2015 The final list 1 2 3 Harrogate – As yet unnamed 3.9% light session ale - hoppy and light 4 5 Roosters - Blind Jack 3.7% Named after Knaresborough’s most famous historical character, Blind Jack is an amber ale brewed with the addition of Rye malt and a blend of American hops to create a quaffable beer with citrus fruit aromas and a light, spicy finish. Collingham – Collingham Blond 3.8% 6 Abbeydale - Exodus - 4.3% Golden coloured beer. Well balanced with lemon, lime and tropical fruit hop character with a subtle malty aftertaste. Slight lingering bitterness on the palate. 7 Slightly Foxed – Flying Fox 4.5% Clear golden well hopped pale. Fruity aroma of peach and herbal hops. Blended flavours of mild grapefruit and brown malts. 8 Slightly Foxed- Fox Glove 4.3% A golden coloured premium best bitter, based on English and European hops. Fox Glove has a full-bodied, fruity flavour from Challenger hops, with Maris Otter and a touch of caramalt balancing the spice and fruit aromas of German Brewers Gold and Sovereign hops 9 Rat – Ginger Rat 4.5% Golden ginger ale. Brewed with fresh root ginger & ginger in colour. Roosters - Baby Faced Assassin 6.1% Brewed with 100% Citra hops that create aromas of mango, apricot, grapefruit & mandarin orange, along with a lasting, juicy, tropical fruit bitterness, the Baby-Faced Assassin is a deceptively quaffable India Pale Ale that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Kirkstall – Black Band Porter – 5.5% A full bodied yet beautifully smooth dark porter. Perfectly balance A crisp and refreshing blonde ale with a hint of peach and a fruity hop finish. 10 Downton – Honey Blond 4.3% A golden straw coloured bitter. A superb blend of spicy and floral hops, added to the smooth sweetness imparted by Flaked Maize and Mexican honey, make this a beer that never hangs around for long! Champion Beer at the Alton Beer Festival 2008, and also available in bottle. Honey Blonde is a light and refreshing blonde/golden ale, with subtle hints of honey and softly sweet malt. The finish is crisp and refreshing. 11 12 Bad Seed - Kohatu Pale Ale 4,5% Part of their single hop range -Kohatu is a hop from New Zealand that has notes of pine needles and tropical fruits. 13 Lovely Nelly 3.9% A superb full-bodied amber bronze session beer – with a biscuit malt flavour balanced with a smooth bitterness from the finest English Fuggles and Golding hops. 14 Ossett – Maitai 3.8% 15 16 Conwy – Minerva Mountain 4.0% An amber ale with gentle floral aromas followed by herbal/heather character with a malty finish 17 Yorkshire Dales – Muker Silver 4.1% 18 Bradford- Razorback 3.7% A pale ale. Grafton - Lady Ruby Cherry Beer 4.5% A dark ruby coloured ale made with cherries. Fruity on the nose. An initial bitterness on the palate which then leads to a cherry explosion on the back of the tongue. An easy-drinking beer Made from pale and wheat malts, this is a crisp, dry and refreshing ale. Moderately bitter, but with heaps of New Zealand Waimea hops added at the end of the boil, this session IPA has intense hop aromas of citrus and pine. Pheonix - Monkeytown Mild 3.9% Traditional creamy dark mild. A blonde Helles style, refreshing ale. Bittered with Hallertau Northern Brewer hops bursting with Styrian Goldings for a real sharp flavour and aroma. The Muker Silver Band was formed in 1897 and is still making music together in Muker, a tiny village, in picturesque Swaledale. 19 B&T - Shefford Mild 3.8% A dark beer with a well-balanced, roast malt taste taste. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Caramel, Challenger Hops, Golding Hops and Fuggle Hops. 20 Rudgate - Stars & Stripes 5.2% Super charged IPA developed from a blend of 7 American hops infused through various stages of the brew. Copper coloured bitter and fruity. 21 Wolf – Straw Dog 4.5% 22 23 Bradford – The Origin 4,2% A pale ale, a new beer from a new brewery, firmly putting Bradford back on the map. 24 Leeds – Tomlinson’s Tipple 3.8% This beer is a dark amber ale, quite malty but with a good amount of hop character too brewed using Willamette, Columbus and First Gold hops. For Children's' Cancer Charities, Brewed with the Tomlinson family to mark the raising of over £7 million pounds by the appeal. Leeds brewery has promised profits from the beer’s sale will be donated directly to the appeal fund, which makes us want to match that. 25 Rudgate – Treasure Trove 3.7% Red, fruity, peaches, berries sweet, malty 26 Buntingford – Twitchell 3.8% A golden fruity bitter with a floral aroma and malty / hoppy aftertaste. Brewed with Maris Otter pale & wheat malts, and English Goldings hops, plus Cascade hops from the USA. Pale and refreshing, this clear wheat beer is brewed in the German style. Soft German hops added to the brew give a wonderful aroma and slightly sweet taste to leave the imbiber wanting more! Kirkstall – Three Swords – 4.5% Very pale and spectacularly thirst-quenching. Three different hops give this beer a delightful citrus nose. 27 Portobello – VPA 4.0% 28 Riverhead – White Cloud 4.5% A dry, extra pale, heavily hopped IPA brewed using summit hops to give an intense Citrus fruit finish 29 Brown Cow - Yorkshire Sovereign 4.4% Brewed with lager malt and triple hopped with Sovereign variety grown in East Yorkshire www.eastyorkshirehops.co.uk Portobello VPA is happy meeting of lager and IPA, endlessly drinkable with just the right hop hit. Like water, but a lot, lot better.
