Delta Sigma Theta holds 15th Delta Doll Pageant
CAMBRIDGE — The Cambridge
Alumnae Chapter of Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
hosted its 15th bi-annual Delta
Doll Pageant on April 22 at
Choptank Elementar y School
in Cambridge.
The event was the culmination of several fundraising
activities held throughout the
Eastern Shore communities,
in support of the chapter’s
scholarship and ser vice programs.
The program featured four
young women who represented the ser vice areas where
they live. Each young woman showcased their talents,
speaking skills and styles
throughout the pageant. The
contestants participating in
the pageant were: Makayla Z.
Bellamy representing Caroline, Kent and Queen Anne’s
counties; BreAna J. Clark rep-
resenting Dorchester County;
Banchi D. Short representing
Talbot County; and Cori Brittingham representing Wicomico and Worcester counties.
Special
acknowledgement
was given to Bellamy, escorted by Taijh Rochester, for winning the title of Cambridge
Alumnae’s Miss Delta Doll
2017. The first runner up was
Short, escorted by Isaiah Haythe; the second runner up was
Brittingham, escorted by Malik Kellam; and the third runner up was Clark, escorted by
Tamorian Williams.
Funds raised from this pageant will support the chapter’s
scholarship and ser vice programs. This year, the chapter
will award four $1,000 scholarships. One-time book awards
not to exceed $500 also are
provided to deser ving students each year.

Shore Neurocognitive
Health sets June 16
caregiver event
EASTON — Shore Neurocognitive Health
will hold a caregiver event on June 16,
which will focus on the impact of the
behaviors of dementia on the individual
and caregiver.
“Understanding the behaviors of dementia: What are they and how do I
cope?” will identify the causes and challenges of behaviors, such as agitation,
aggression and hallucinations, often experienced by individuals with dementia.
Strategies for the caregiver to manage
and cope also will be discussed. This
interactive meeting will be presented by
Beth Parker-O’Brien, lead clinician at
Shore Neurocognitive Health.
The one-hour event will be held beginning at 11 a.m. Friday, June 16, at Shore
Neurocognitive Health, 29466 Pintail
Drive, unit 9, Easton. The event is free
and open to the public. Space is limited,
and reservations are suggested.
Shore Neurocognitive Health is directed by Parker-O’Brien, and specializes in

UMUC eyes office hours at Eastern
Shore Higher Education Center

hours at the Eastern Shore
Higher Education Center,
located next to the wind turbine on the Chesapeake College Wye Mills campus.

The library now is named for Jean Barry, a current Bayleigh Chase resident who was instrumental
