Dear Parents and Students –
Handley students and staff have been working hard as we enter the final grading period for the 2015-16 school
year. There have been lots of fun and lots of learning taking place. Be sure to check out the pictures of some
the students hard at work. Please see the reminder below that students in grades 3 – 5 have ISTEP testing
coming up. It is important that students have a good night’s rest, have a healthy breakfast (remember Handley
serves a free breakfast to all students), and are to school on time. Working together we can achieve great
things!! THANK YOU!

PARENT POWER: Line them up
Sometimes students get math problems wrong simply because they haven’t lined up the numbers correctly. Try this.
Have your child work problems on graph paper, using one box per number. Once she gets used to this system, he/she
will be able to transfer the lining up skill to regular paper. Organization is crucial.
