Commissioning a project
GENERAL INFO
In order to develop and grow our commissioning service, we need to support
this action. We need to begin with a pricing table for commissioning. Once
this table is ready, it should be communicated and promoted by salespeople
and should always be included in quotations by back office staff.

QUOTATION

Picture: Technical Drawing of a Project
A client requests a quotation, whether via phone, email, personal visit, front office staff, etc. The request includes:
-
Specification text
-
Drawing of the project
The back office staff ensure that deadline for the request is met, and they are responsible for ensuring that the request
is registered in our system.
QUOTATION
Type of Project
Once we have checked and
understood everything in
the quotation, we provide a
solution for the project. This
solution must be registered
in the system. Each country

Solution 1
currently has its own way of
registering quotations, but
in the future all countries

Solution 2
will use Sales Force.
In this example shown, we
enter the client’s name,
project name, solution
offered, services offered,
type of project etc.

Erik is waiting
Once the quotation is ready and has been
signed by the person in charge (back office
staff member, team manager, country
manager, etc.; see Risks and Regulations),
we send the quotation to our customer.
•
We make sure that the customer
understands the offer.
•
Once we know that the client understands
the quotation, we don’t wait around for a
reply. We follow up the status of the

quotation by, for example:
-
Calling the client
-
Front office staff asking about the status on
a customer visit.

in our system and proceed with implementation.
Commissioning is now one of the items in the
implementation of a quotation.
COMMISSIONING
Types of Commissioning
We have different types of commissioning depending on the proposed solution:
Example 1: IB+
-
Our back office receives a call requesting a commissioning appointment (mostly from
electricians or our traditional professional installers).
-
First, the back office staff make sure that everything is sorted out and ready on the
construction site. How? Erik sends our customer a checklist of things to do.
-
Next, Edwin goes to the site. Before leaving for the construction site, he makes sure that he
has his personal safety gear with him in the car.

COMMISSIONING
Example 1: IB+
-
We have different checklists
for different products; this is
the IB+ checklist.
-
We send this checklist to
avoid any time loss and gain
efficiency.

COMMISSIONING
Example 1: IB+
-
On site, Edwin starts up his
laptop and configures the
system.
-
Using the system software,
he sets up the project:
number of zones, how many
sensors used, etc.

COMMISSIONING
Example 1: IB+
-
Edwin uses the operating
system to enter the values
for sun, wind, etc.
Once he has checked that everything is working properly, he leaves the site !

COMMISSIONING
When the commissioning is finished, we send the commissioning report to the customer.
11
COMMISSIONING
We add this project report to the commissioning report. It is a document listing all values for
sensors, positions, type of end products, etc., for KNX, IB+ & IP io. Now it’s time to send the
invoice!
