Daily Devotions for ACTS 29 Mission Team

Day 1 (Friday, May 3) Today’s prayer – that your arms will be open wide!
You are in Haiti today, living your dream! We pray that you will breathe deeply, taking in all the
new sights, sounds and smells of God’s creation today. May our gracious God help you to sort
through all the expectations, experiences and emotions this day. May He be your anchor in any
storm (whether it be a refreshing rain storm outside or a confusing & churning sensation inside
your heart and mind.) We pray that you each will be open to God today in new ways!
Benediction & Blessing (it was last Sunday’s benediction in worship services at Grace):
As you go, take the love of God with you. Enter your world with arms open wide to share the
good news. And may the Holy Spirit give you grace to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Amen
Day 2 (Sat.) Today’s prayer - that God will give you strength to be the hands and feet of Jesus!
We pray that out of God’s amazing riches and resources (not your own), each of you will be
empowered and strengthened to serve today. Prayers that you will know and trust (even if you
don’t always feel it) that the Spirit of Christ dwells in you through faith. It’s God’s strength not
yours, it’s God’s work, not yours! May you realize anew that you are the hands and feet of
Jesus!

Day 3 (Sun.) Today’s prayer – Take the love of God with you!
Are you feeling exhausted or excited today? Overwhelmed or ___? (ask people to fill in the
blank) Yes, in every thought and emotion, God is there… loving YOU, just as you are today. Our
prayer today is that He will continue filling you up with His grace so that His love will flow (and
overflow) to others around you. Remain rooted and established in God’s love and He will do
immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20)

Day 4 (Mon.) Today’s prayer – that you will share the good news!
Another day in Haiti, another day to be stretched and challenged, another day of asking God to
use each of you in new encounters today. May you truly sense Christ “dwelling in your hearts
through faith” today. And may you grasp the depth of His compassion so that you may share
His grace with one special person today. We’re praying for God’s “divine appointments” in
which you will share the good news this day! (continued on next page)

Day 5 (Tues) Today’s prayer - May the Holy Spirit give you grace!
Ah…. Grace! It’s a word on that sign in our front lawn on the corner of Round Lake and Bunker.
It’s also a transforming gift from God that inspired you to venture out to Haiti. Today we ask
God to bless you - and refresh you - with His Holy Spirit. May He shower His ‘amazing grace’
upon each of you as you share “GRACE” - not only with the Haitian folks but also with each
other on the ACTS 29 team. God’s Peace be with each of you!

Day 6 (Wed.) Today’s prayer - You are blessed to be a blessing!
Through God’s grace, you are each blessed! And through God’s inspiration and Spirit within,
you are now living out God’s dream of being ‘blessed to be a blessing!’ You thought you came
to build and repair things, to plant gardens and ‘do projects’ . . . but perhaps God’s blessing is
beyond the ‘doing’ (even though these are all good things). His blessing is in the ‘being’ ---being in community, being in relationships, being in His presence and living for His purpose - in
Haiti or Andover or wherever! Our prayers join your prayers this morning… that today we live
out God’s dream – blessed to be a blessing!

Day 7 (Thurs.) Today’s prayer – Acts Chapter 29 - what does that say again? 
Heading home, saying good-bye, repacking & re-entering life in the USA . . . this too will be a
process, and prayers are still needed. May God give you journey mercies as you travel home.
May He grant you Wisdom as you process your time in Haiti, and as you explain and express
your mission trip experiences to family and friends. May our Gracious God reveal to you the
impressions and impacts that He desires for you and your life, as you strive to live out ACTS 29.
