For example, homework will normally range between 5 and 25 points and tests can range from 25 to 50 points. Semester grade: calculated as follows: 40% 1st quarter + 40% 2nd quarter + 20% final exam Classroom Rules: 1. Do not disrupt the learning environment. (Talking, making noise, throwing things, listening to music) 2. Be seated and quiet when the bell rings. Headphones must be out of sight once you enter the classroom (not in ears). 3. Respect your fellow classmates and teacher. (Teasing, lying & complaining will not be tolerated!) 4. Come prepared to class with binder, paper and writing utensil. 5. No food or drinks (Water is ok!) *School rules outlined in the student handbook will also apply! Assignments: Class assignments are not punishments! They will be given out to prepare you for upcoming lessons or reinforce the concepts learned in class. Homework will not be given out daily, but will have a large impact on your grade. Please take your time and hand in only QUALITY WORK that you are proud of! In Class: Due in the amount of time given by your teacher. If you need more time, just ask! Homework: Unless instructed otherwise, homework is due for full credit at the BEGINNING of the next class. o Study guides are an exception. They are due the day of the unit test and are always handed out 2 class periods in advance to allow plenty of time for completion. Late Work: ½ credit. Late work will be accepted throughout the duration of the unit. The last day to turn it in will be the day of the unit test, which is always the last day of the unit. Late study guides need to be turned in the day after the test. No Name Papers: -1 point on the assignment. Extra Credit: You will be allowed a maximum of 15 points each quarter. Opportunities include: news/magazine article reviews, movie reviews, research on health topics. Information can be found on my web page. You can also “invent” your own extra credit. Just let your teacher know your idea in advance for approval. Extra credit may also be assigned to individual assignments or tests and do not count towards the 15 points mentioned above. Cheating/Copying If a student has been caught copying or cheating on any assignment or test both students involved will receive a ZERO on the assignment. Points can only be made up in the form of extra credit. Binder Students will be expected to organize their papers in a 1 inch binder with 10 Tab dividers. These materials can be new or used (in good condition). The binder will be set up within the first week of class and is worth points. Organization is a top priority in this class. If for whatever reason a student can not get the materials by the due date, they will need to speak to their teacher in advance of the due date. I need my binder/tabs by: ________________________ *Supplies can be bought in the school store Haiku Web Page Teacher web pages include links to their e-mail.
