Intern Position / Title
Development & Special Events Assistant
Position Description
Help organize special events and fundraising, including KFAM’s Comedy Night to raise funds for family support services
Begin Date 1/15/2015
End Date 5/1/2015
Hours per week 10-15 Hours

Intern Responsibilities & Duties

Develop fundraising or outreach event-related materials including flyers, invitations, contact log and registration

Assisting with sponsorship benefits and packages for the Comedy Night

Effectively engage donors of all levels – confirming RSVPs & confirming VIPs

Develop and manage guest lists and donation updates

Provide administrative support with regard to emails and phone calls for fundraising event follow up

Accountable for meeting deadlines responding to fundraising committee and outreach team staffs

Develop digital contents for Comedy Night and other announcement postings on social media (FB, Twitter & Eventbrite)

Perform other duties assigned by the Outreach Coordinator and fundraising event team staff

Track donation amounts and provide donation thank you letters to all donors after the event
Requirements

Exceptional communication skills both oral and written

Strong organization, multi-tasking and time management skills

Must be proficient with MS Office Applications

Graphic design skills using Photoshop, InDesign or Illustrator a plus

Social media savvy (Facebook, Twitter & Eventbrite)

Bilingual in English and Korean is plus, but not required

Community service oriented

Basic understanding of fundraising with the interest in learning more a plus

Outreach and marketing for the TIE Community
Internship Program

Recruitment of potential intern(s)
□
Host an Interview Day as an opportunity for potential
interns to meet with CBO supervisors. CBO
supervisors will have an opportunity to rank their
preference of interns.
□
Selection and placement of intern(s)
□
Provide a preliminary training prior to the start of the
program
□
Provide monthly coaching sessions to intern(s)
□
Coordinate a reception at the conclusion of the
program for interns to make presentations about their
experience.
□
Provide students with the opportunity to acquire a skill
set in at least one of the following areas (Please
indicate which one):
x  1) Funding and development:
-Identify potential donors and funding sources
-Organize a fundraiser
-Be able to articulate the grant writing process
 2) Policy and advocacy:
-Identify and articulate at least 3 legislative
items that pertain to the APA community
-Be able to advocate on behalf of the APA
community
-Be able to articulate the legislative process
through which a bill becomes a law
X  3) Outreach and organizing:
-Create outreach materials
-Be able to articulate the reason and
importance for outreach
-Write a press release
-Organize an event (i.e., a rally, a townhall
meeting)
