GUIDE to Distribution Search
1. General instructions
1.1 A short description of the system
This web service - Distribution Search - enables composers,
authors and music publishers to search in their own
distributed royalties, earned from December 2005 to
December 2007.
Information in the database can be shown on either a total or
a detailed level, the latter as known from the present
documentation in statements.
1.2 Login and time out
If you do not use Distribution Search for 30 minutes or more,
your log-in session will be timed out for secure reasons. To
start again, you have to close the browser and go through the
log-in procedure again from the website of your local society.
1.3 Navigation
Do not use the default browser navigation back and
forward.
If you use browser navigation back and forward together with
Album & Track search, there is a risk of malfunction – and you
have to open a new browser and log-in again.
Therefore:
For navigation to go one step - use the “Back” button on
Distribution Search’s sites.
1.4 Navigation in the search result lists:
Use NEXT to go to the next page in the result list – use
PREVIOUS to go one page back in the result list. You can
also click on a page number to get exactly that page of results.
In all result lists, there are links (the text is underlined), i.e.
you can see all information from the Album and Track System.
A click on Album Title gives Album Detail with Release and
Track list, and a click on Work Title gives Work detail with
rights owners and own shares of the work.
1.5 Search rules
There is no need for typing the whole phrase. If you search on
the title “DONT STAND” – you will also get “DONT STAND SO
CLOSE TO ME” as part of the search result.
The more specific the search is, the less hits.
When the various search types are used, it will be data from
ALL the mentioned distribution periods (cf. item 1.1.) that are
included in the result list.
1.6 Browser type
Distribution Search can run in Internet Explorer 7, Internet
Explorer 6, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape and Opera. It is optimized
for running in Internet Explorer 7 which is recommended.
1.7 Examples in the guide
The examples are copied from our test-databases and
therefore don’t pay attention to the figures

GUIDE to Distribution Search
2. Get a quick start
These 3 steps must be made by all searches:
The main purpose of this application is to get a list of
royalty amount per music work – for instance all uniformly
accounted works on all albums, or only accounted works
on one specific album. There are several combination
options which are mentioned below.
1. Search
2. Add to Selected value
3. List ’Distributions per work’
In other words: it is possible to search widely and to limit
the result depending on your requirement in the actual situation.
But in order to see this distribution list ‘Distributions per work’
you will always have to go through 3 steps:
Step 1. Search Value
All searches result in a list from which you can select a
value for the subsequent distribution list.
In the section ‘Search Value’ open the ‘Select list’ box
and all search options will scroll out.
The first 2 search options – Work Titles or Artists - can be
used when searching for works,
while the others - Albums,
Producers, Agreements and Administrations - may be used
as an ordinary information list or to limit the subsequent
distribution list in order to see accounted works only for
a limited number of albums.
GUIDE to Distribution Search
The search options - Agreements and Administrations - are
only available for publishers.
(All lists will be explained in details later on under item 3).
Choose a search option, enter the search value and click on
Search.
Step 2. Your selected values
Every search will result in a list – as mentioned above.
In all lists it is possible to select a single line in the list by
clicking on the icon in red circle (Add to selected …). For
instance, when you click the icon in list of work titles, the work
title and work number will be copied to the box ‘Your selected
values’, meaning that you want a distribution list for the
selected work. The more different kind of selected values,
the less hits in the distribution list.
When at least one value is selected in ‘Your selected values’,
a new button will show ‘List distributions per work’
in the section right under ‘Your selected values’.
Continue to step 3.
Step 3. List Distributions per work
Before the button ‘List distributions per work’ is activated, you
may choose whether the distribution list shall apply for all or
only for one contract type and whether you want to make a
total on the basis of only one or more distribution periods.
Activate the button ’List distributions per work’
and the list of results is now shown.
The list shows – in the example to the right – a net total for
the work ‘In My way’
released on various albums and in various formats. For more
information about this list - see item 3.
GUIDE to Distribution Search
A click on this plus sign in the left side, will result in detail
information about the various releases per country, producer,
collecting area etc.
The detail level is identical with the one that today is included in
the statements.
See item 4 for more information about the list.

3. Search lists – more info
All lists show the result of the entered search option.
Please note that data in the lists have been extracted from all
distributions from the periods mentioned under item 1.1
3.1 Work titles
The list shows all work titles in alphabetic order, listing the
rights owner and work number.
When clicking Work Key, you will navigate to Work Detail from
Album and Track Search
3.2. Artists
The list shows the artists who have been performing on the
releases of the works on the listed albums.
This list is mainly used for searching a work that you later
want to be shown on the Distributions List. So, you cannot
select an album from this list because the same artist may be
performing on many albums and such a list could become
quite confusing.
Please note, that if 2 lines appear to be similar for the same
work, one line is without recording title as it probably concerns
online.
3.3. Producers
The list shows the record producers who have released
albums containing your works.

GUIDE to Distribution Search
3.4. Album
The list shows albums and the matching album artists as well
as the album number. The list is shown in alphabetic order
under Album Title. In this list there are 2 options to select an
album to ‘Your selected values’:
When choosing the 1. button ‘Add to selected Values’, it will
result in a distribution list, including all releases that match the
recording title – i.e. a list showing royalties for every work on
every matching release.
1.
2.
When choosing the 2. button to the right Add to selected
Values, it will result in a distribution list, including only a
distribution list for the work(s) included on a specific album.
When clicking Album Title you will navigate to the Album
Detail picture.
3.5 Agreements
Only available for publishers.
This list shows the original publisher and sub-publisher in
alphabetic order on name of publisher.
If a contract partner is involved, this name is shown under
Agreement Group. If the agreement itself has a name, this will
be shown under Agreement Name.
In the field Agreement/Acc no, the number of the agreement is
shown.
Page 7 af 14
GUIDE to Distribution Search
3.6. Administrators
Only available for publishers
The list shows the administrations that a publisher manages.
First all composers in alphabetic order and then all publisher
agreements – also in alphabetic order.
The button ‘Add to Selected values’ is used if you want to see
a ‘distribution list per work’ that shall only include works
attached to a composer or publisher agreement.
It you want to see all administrations, do not enter anything in
the search field of ‘Search Values’ .

4. List of Distribution per work – more info
For each album the list shows the sum of the distributed
royalties per work and the sum of number of sold copies. If
more options have been chosen in ‘Your selected value’,
the list will reflect the combination of these selections.
At least one search option must be chosen in ‘Your selected
value’ in order to show this list.
Please note:
♪ the list will always be shown in work title order. If you in
‘Your selected values’ have chosen an album title (without
a specific album number – see item 3.4) you cannot get a
list of all works per album, because the works are
primarily listed in alphabetic order and then after album
number.
♪ If, however, you have selected one album with a specific
catalogue number (cf. Item 3.4.) all the works will be listed
in alphabetic order and within the same album.
♪ In the next version of the system, we will make a sort
facility on columns.
♪ if there are more formats in one release or box (e.g.1 CD
and 1 DVD) there will be 2 lines in the list with the same
work title and album number but the formats will be
different. The number of copies sold is usually identical in a
box but if you experience that they are different, it might be
due to the fact that for instance the CD also have been
sold as an ”independent” CD. Therefore, the number of
copies sold is an accumulation of the number from the box
and the number from the ”independent” CD sale.

… continued
♪ a work may also appear twice on the list for some other
reason. In connection with online, one track may be
reported with an artist, while the second may be reported
without an artist.
♪ regarding Online, the distribution list will be divided into
types of usage. For the time being it is Downloads and
Ringtones.
If you click on “+” (plus icon to the left) the Online lines will
be divided further into a sum for mechanical and a sum for
performing, respectively.
Please note that your share of mechanical and performing
may be different – due to the work documentation.
♪ publishers may find 2 apparently similar lines, but this may
be due to the fact that they receive royalties for 2 different
agreements for the same work.

The royalty amounts are here shown on the lowest level as
known from today’s statements.
The list is always shown for one distribution period at the time.
That means, if you in the previous list called ‘Distributions per
work‘ have chosen to sum up several distribution periods, data
from the youngest period will be shown first and then you must
choose the following periods in this dropdown box

Album and Track system: Album Detail or Work Detail.
If the work has been adjusted, the debits are shown with
negative amounts in red.

this will be accumulated under your main account
