Dear Parents
Faction Cross Country
Last Friday, students from Pre-primary to
Year 6 competed in our faction Cross
Country. The Carnival was won by Sharks.
I congratulate all competitors on their
efforts and acknowledge those talented
students who were able win an individual
medallion or place ribbon.
Our Pre-primary students participated for
the first time in this event. They were
fantastic and should be congratulated on
completing their course and the effort
they displayed.
Our top 6 students both girls and boys from each year level (Year 3 – 6) will
now represent our school at the upcoming Interschool Cross Country event
to be held next week.
Special thanks to the parents who assisted on the course and those many
family members who came along to support the students. The atmosphere
created brought the best out in the competitors. I would also like to
acknowledge the staff for the organisation of this event, especially Mrs
Rafferty.
World of Maths Incursion
On Monday 1 August students from Pre-Primary to Year 3 enjoyed a funfilled and challenging math session provided by the team from World of
Maths. World of Maths is a presentation of fun and educational, hands-on,
problem solving activities that encouraged our junior students to think
mathematically and challenge their understandings.

The students thoroughly enjoyed participating in the hands-on activities on
Monday. Our Year 4, 5 and 6 students will have the opportunity to

National Asthma Week
1-7 September
The theme for National Asthma Week 2016 is
Become a Better Breather. National Asthma
Week coincides with the beginning of spring and as pollens are
a known trigger for asthma, this is an excellent time to ensure
your child’s asthma is well controlled. Sections of the Asthma
Australia website that can help with asthma management
include:
 Take the Asthma Control Test to see if you could make
improvements to help your child become a better breather.
 Manage allergies often linked with asthma, including allergic
rhinitis (hayfever).
 Did you know? 90% of people with asthma use their
medications incorrectly.
 Check your child’s technique to see if they are getting full
benefit from their medication.
Regular review of your child’s asthma with your GP and
pharmacist will help them to become a better breather.
Need help with your child’s asthma? Contact our Asthma
Assist line on 1800 ASTHMA (1800 278 462) and talk to one of
our friendly Asthma Health Professionals.
Cross Country 2016
Wow!! The 2016 School Cross Country was a closely fought event with only 1 point separating the
first and second House. The Pre Primary students showed us how to run with their amazing effort to
complete the Year 3 course and with a smile as they crossed the finish line!
Thank you to all the parents that came to support and the volunteers that helped around the course.
The weather was kind to us and all the children ran extremely well with some amazing results.
Congratulations to SHARKS who took out the 2016 Cross Country after DOLPHINS had dominated the
event so long!
Good luck to all children representing the school at the interschool cross country at Davallia Primary
